Just Be You

How can you say goodbye to memories you never had

and how can you hold on to the past, when the past was never there

All the tears and the heartache that make life worse and worse

It all seems its for nothing because nothing is what its worth

I see so many people in this world do so much for a taste of love

But what good is a taste if its just an imitation of the real thing

Why go searching for something so small when

Nine times out of ten, its sitting right there

What's up with the insecurity and all the hate

When you put the two together, its not a great sight

The things people do to put others down

All for the artificial prize of holding themselves up

Feelings of joy and happiness found in ugly ways is just a contradiction

Because in reality, you've created a temporary situation

And then, when the feeling is gone just as soon as it came

Then the ugliness continues just to hide your true pain

The truth of the matter is there is joy in being you

Just a bonafide, unaltered, natural, you

It is this key that unlocks true happiness

It is a feeling a freedom, a break from the vice of life

So to anyone who is truly feeling down and out

To anyone who has simply had enough

To anyone who needs a sign of relief

Just stay true to yourself and you will be free
