She lies in the girl's dormitory, lazily lying across her four-poster. Her legs sprawled out across the length of it, eyes closed, one hand lying across her stomach and the other above her head. She wore her old worn-out pair of Sesame Street pajamas and an equally unattractive word tee, which read, "Your mom!" Apparel that a majority of her classmates did not understand. Her long brown curly hair covered most of the mattress around her body; not yet brushed. And her eyes were closed as she quietly took in the smell of the morning's fresh springtime air.
Her name was Mandy Andrews; she was a six-year Ravenclaw at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. A muggle born, meaning her parents were non-magical. This had always been something that did not bother her. She found that most people at Hogwarts could care less, though there were the exceptions. Mostly Slytherins, a house made up of mainly purebloods; a person who's both parents are of magical decent. She didn't care too much about their taunting, though there was one exception. His name was Draco Malfoy. Mandy had secretly been crushing on him since the first time she met him. Her first ride on the Hogwarts express; the train, which takes the students to Hogwarts. She had sat with him on the way, him not yet knowing her blood status. However the moment she told him he became instantly cold and had treated her extra badly ever since. According to him something about her "tricking him." Unfortunately, Mandy does not return his hate for her, and each time he says something hurtful to her a pain occurs in her stomach and a knot forms in her throat. Sometimes at night as she lays in her bed her mind wanders to the thought that she will probably never be able to be with him and the pain becomes almost unbearable. She wishes she could just some how rid herself of feelings for him, but the likely hood of that ever happening is slim to none. A small sigh escaped her lips as she pressed her feet to the ground, standing up. She looked at the clock, which was located right beside her bed and read 12:30. She shook her head before walking to the bathroom. This was her usual wake up time on a Saturday morning. She was not a morning person and the fact that she woke up at a decent hour on school days should have been considered a kind gesture alone. She carelessly ran a comb through her hair before throwing it up into a messy bun, rubbed on a good amount of eyeliner onto her water line and changed into something decent. When she finished she jogged down the stairs and entered the nearly empty common room. 'Crap.' She thought, at that moment realizing it was Hogsmade day and she was going to miss it. She shrugged her shoulder's deciding to take the day to relax. She left the portrait hole and began her walk to the lake, intending to take a nap beside it. As she passed one of Hogwarts many hallways she heard a soft cry from the hallway next to it. She ran around the corner instantly stopping in her tracks as she saw Draco and his cronies picking on some innocent little first years. "Bloody hell! What on earth do you think your doing?" She cried moving hesitantly towards them. "Piss off Andrews!" Draco shouted looking over his shoulder and glaring at her before turning back to his victim. He raised his wand menacingly forcing a small squeak to escape from Mandy's mouth. She moved forward slowly her hands placed in front of her in a defensive position. "Put down the wand Draco!" she shouted a small quiver in her voice. Hearing this he quickly spun around on the heels of his shoes to face her, now aiming the wand to her. "What gives you the right to tell me what to do? Filthy mud blood." he said moving forward until he was right in front of her face. Mandy closed her eyes in an attempt to hold back the tears she felt about to break out. A mud blood is a pretty nasty thing to call someone with muggle parents and it was the one thing that hurt her, especially coming from him. "Please don't call me that." She whispered her voice now shaking heavily as she felt a tear roll down her cheek. Her eyes still closed she heard the squeak of Draco's sneakers as he turned towards his friends, who had gone quiet after hearing what he had called her. "Go off and wait for me in the common room, I can finish this." He said turning back towards Mandy. She heard the sound of their shoes as they ran off and then silence. The silence continued for some time before she slowly opened her eyes to see Draco still right in front of her. His face no longer bore the usual sneer he wore whenever he communicated with her, but now was replaced with an emotionless expression. But in his eyes Mandy was sure she saw a small bit of what looked to be concern.
