Aliyah gawped back at her reflection in the mirror taking in her gorgeous appearance...

She looked NOTHING like the ragged girl she was a couple of hours ago...

NOTHING like the ragged, troubled girl on the inside screeching to be let free...

She sat on the vanity seat, her teeth gnawing away at the inside of her mouth, chanting silently in her head "be strong, be strong"...

Yet Aliyah's eyes swam with tears of sadness, anger and finally deciet that threatened to smudge the thick layer of kohl, perfectly applied to emphasize her almond shaped eyes...

Her hazel eyes swirled with the the mixture of emotions coated with sparkly green and blue shadows. Her thick lashes assisted by the layers of mascara, shifted elegantly as she pursed her full, ruby red lips into an angry pout....Her skin shone and sparkled after an hour of having her Nanny Nasheen rub Moringa oil over her body, soothing and calming her delicate skin...

"You look beautiful my darling..." Nasheen smiled as she affectionately stroked the back of Aliyah's veil careful not to ruin the extravagant bun, adorned and braided to perfection...

Her eyes shone with pride as she thought of all those years of caring for her dear Liya...she was the closest to a daughter the Nasheen could ever have... and she wanted the best for her...even if that meant the heart-wrenching thought of letting her go"

"Thank you...thank you for everything....i could never have asked for a bet-" Aliyah whispered, her voice quivering and choking her towards the end giving away the fear that repeatedly plunged inside of her...Nasheen was the mother she never had...she was the one that held her and comforted her throughout her years of pain...she reached out to hold her Nanny's hand for the last time...a tear finally giving away under the pressure.

Nasheen's eyes widened, she hated to see people upset...it broke her heart especially when it was her little Liya "Hush...Liya...my darling, don't cry sweetheart! you should be happy my dear...Your about to start a fresh chapter in your new life and...i know it hurts but you need to be strong my sweetheart" Nasheen covered up her vulnerability for her child with a determined, wise look in her eyes.

She looked into Aliyah's eyes " You can get through this, i know you can, so hold your head up high and embrace your new life...."

With the support and belief in these new found words Aliyah pursed her lips and relaxed her shoulders, reassuring herself...

That moment of vulnerability could never happen again she promised herself...she was strong, confident and would not let anyone let her think otherwise...after all the years of pain she had to deal it only made her stronger...

The mere thought of marrying a man that she had barely seen forget knowing made her cringe and brought back the feeling of weakness and anger....

how could her uncle do this to her?..what if the man turned out to be some creepy pedophile? afterall... she new NOTHING about this man...she didn't even know the age of 'the man'...

She knew her Aunt and uncle clearly hated her but she never thought they would just marry her off to a random man...for there own selfish debts and repayments....

It has nothing to do with me Aliyah cried helplessly....but she would show them AND her snobby, bitchy cousins Esha and Alisha that she was not weak...

"Aliyah!" Her aunty's sharp voice sliced through the air as she banged open the door and looked at her neice in contempt.

Aliyah held in a snigger as she watched her practically bald aunty looking riduculous in a wig triple the size if her head...her bright make up caking her ugly face and her fat ass stuffed in a dress much to small for her. Did she not realise she looked like a hairless baboon? clearly not...

"yes Aunty?" she managed to choke out over the laughter that threatened to explode, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth as she made contact with her Nanny who winked back at her in return.

"Oh for God's sake Aliyah!...get ready! Put your act together! and don't smirk at me you useless girl! her aunty glared angrily

"The wedding feast starts in 5mins and your still sitting here!.."....

Her aunty's high- pitched, annoying voice was like a constant alarm in her ear...gawd....how much she would love to throttle that fat neck of hers....

Finally! after all these years, you'll stop being a waste of space in our lives! A burden! A disgrace! to my poor husband..." her Aunty dramatically cried, a sickening, sadistic smile playing on her lips...

Aliyah's eyes blazed with fury as she eyed that famous smirk that says " I'm-in-control-and-there-is-NOTHING- you-can-do-about-it" .

but she would NOT let the bitch have the satisfaction of knowing that she had got to her...she realised that now was deffinately not the time to give a smart-ass reply...

Today was her wedding for crying out loud!, heck! it only comes once in a lifetime and she was sure to use it to her advantage...who knows this marriage may actually be of benefit, she could finally be free of this shithole...

She smirked back at her aunty and stuffed away all her fears deep within her.

Aliyah stood up elegantly yet confidently, grabbed her clutch, gave a once over in the mirror and

after bidding a silent yet meaningfull farewell to her Nanny, Aliyah left the room trailing after her aunt...she could feel it within her...today was going to be a memorable day...
