Chapter 4:

Donovan couldn’t believe his luck when he drove past Blue Moon and saw her walking down the street looking annoyed. He wasn’t planning on finding her (and even less, marking her) that morning so he hadn’t thought of how he’d approach her but before she could get away, Don decided on a whim to go after her.

And now there she was, lying unconscious next to him, her long and tempting legs over his thighs, looking as beautiful as he remembered. Jade… Such an exotic and unique name that Don found fitting for his mate. And her smile… oh, Fate had been generous with him. For that, and for putting her in his path right when he needed her the most. However, he was not that generous for giving him a mate that rejected him and ran away from him. What was so wrong with him for her to act that way?

When Donovan stopped before a red traffic light, he looked over his shoulder for the umpteenth time to look at Jade. He quietly looked at her young face, and then his eyes fell on the still rather fresh blood that had stained the front of her white top. A smirk slightly curved his lips, she’s going to throw a fit when she wakes up, the Alpha thought. But she won’t escape this time.

Just as Don was picking Jade up in his arms, Jake burst into the garage.

“Where the Hell have you b—“ The Beta stopped abruptly when his eyes fell on his future Luna, and back to his friend’s. “No, you didn’t”

The Alpha didn’t say anything, instead he walked past him into the living room.

“You kidnapped her!?”

“No” Don rolled his eyes. Jake followed him close behind as he made his way up the stairs to his bedroom.

No? Oh, so you’re going to tell me she came with you willingly? And fainted from the excitement?”

“I didn’t say that either”

“And you marked her!” Jake continued with exaggerated outrage while Donovan entered his room and gingerly laid her on his bed. “I thought we had agreed on waiting a couple days, not hours!

Donovan had had enough of Jake’s rant, so he dragged him outside the room by the collar of his shirt. “The last time I checked, Jake, I was the one giving orders. This is not pack business. This is my mate we’re talking about”

“It is pack business, actually,” His friend said in a mocking tone that irritated Don even more, before going serious again. “Because the Alpha was gone for hours without telling his Beta where the fuck he was going”

The Alpha had to admit that was true. It had been stupid of him to make such a hasty decision of going back to the city, even if he never thought he’d find her, on a whim. Many things could’ve happened, and Jake didn’t even know where he was. But hopefully there wasn’t going to be another situation like that.

“I’m here now. If there’s nothing that requires my attention, I’ll be downstairs”

Jade woke up feeling so comfortable, warm and peaceful she didn’t question where she was. It was strange, surreal… She hadn’t felt like that, as if she was in a very nice dream, for years, ever since—

The wolf!

The memories came rushing back to her immediately. The blonde boy… He had bit her! He had claimed her as his… And her wolf had said it was their mate! It was—It couldn’t—
