Luggage was packed and ready to go sitting by the front door. All the lights were out

except for the one over the stove giving me all the light I needed to maneuver my way

to the couch. My parents apparently decided to go to bed early this evening. So glad I

could relax and not have to go over my reunion with Nathan with them. Knowing they

would pry and I did not want to share anything about Viki with them, they just wouldn’t

understand.

I plopped down on the couch as the soft cushions welcomed my body hugging one to

me gently. Flipping through the channels, l hope to find something interesting to take my

mind off the earlier events.

The only things that was on that got a brief pause before flipping to the next channel

was Golden Girls! What a funny bunch of older ladies. I cracked up at a few of Rose's

comical lines. She always says such out there things you can’t help but laugh at

practically everything that comes out of her mouth.

My mind drifted quickly back to Nathan.

What could he actually see in icky Viki as if she was actually funny and grew a

personality after 18 years. How could he be so blind?! Apparently I gave him far more

credit then he deserved. He did not strike me as being easily manipulated, but tonight

and the fact that he would even think about a relationship with her proved otherwise.

This was all probably part of one of Viki’s many vindictive games. Nathan was her play

toy to get back at me for all the funny pranks I played on her in high school. It was all

about winning to her as long as her emotions were not the ones at stake. Poor Nathan,

he was in way over his head.

I am going to need a distraction if I am going to make it through the summer. Preferably

a muscular, hot one. Chuckling at my sudden idea I thought it over.

Hum, I could not think of one potential off the top of my head. Oh well this is a tourist

town so someone is bound to catch my eye.

The Golden Girls episode had ended and I started flipping through the channels again.

Groaning at the fact there was nothing else on television except garbage. Stopping on

Animal Planet, the perfect channel to not pay attention and think.

Startled by the sound of rattling I realized my phone was vibrating on the kitchen table.

Jumping up to get it before it stopped I answered it breathing heavy.

"Hello"

"Can I come over actually, l am almost there so l hope you say yes"

"I hope you are by yourself" abruptly came out of my mouth. Not that regretting sounding

that way since I was not sure I even wanted to speak with him.

"Umm yea" Then I heard the front door opening.

Wow that really was quick he must have been calling from the driveway.

His eyes softened when he looked at me which caused my body to melt. This effect he

was having on me was ridiculous.

“I am SO sorry" he said softly.

"I can’t believe you did not tell me" l sighed,” Very disappointing."

"I was scared to tell you." looking down "It just happened." Grabbing my hand causing

electricity to run through me he continued "Please give her a chance Muffin, people

change!"

"They sure do" I grumbled, the double meaning he didn’t notice.

He sat down on the couch and as I sat down as well he pulled me close to him. His

warmth made me want to draw in closer.

"Nothing will change between us Evey."

His warmth comforted me as I rested my head on his chest. There was no need to

respond to his comment as things already have changed. Things can’t go back to as

they were. Before my newly discovered feelings for Nathan, before Viki came along and

ruining today and, many more days to come.

Unsure of what these feelings meant. Whether it was lust or love there was one thing I

knew for sure. That was that his touch was affecting every part of my body.

I needed to learn how to control my thoughts if that was at all possible. He had a

girlfriend now who is apparently ‘amazing’. As much as I would get great enjoyment out

of trying to steal him from her just for my own personal amusement, l am better than

that.

Eyes started getting heavy as I started to doze off. I could no longer fight to keep them

open. I allowed myself to drift off.
