It was a beautiful day, birds were flying in the blue sky, and the vast green field of Silver Springs High was dotted with children of different ages, the younger ones playing tag or chasing butterflies of the spring, and the older ones busy in tennis or basketball-
CUT! That was how her life was. Remember, was, not is. Right now, there were no birds in the sky, and the once-lush green field was bleached white with snow. Not that Miya did not like snow, but c’mon! You’d hate it too if you had to get up early in winter mornings yet get late for school. Miya walked-cum-tripped as fast as she could on the slippery walkway towards her school building. She knew that the final bell had rung and class had started. Strut increased. And its not just her lateness which was irritating her, she had another dream about him again.
Walk, walk, walk-trip-slip-about to fall-whew! NOT fall-walk, walk, walk, trip-slip-about to fall-
Just as she thought she reached the building safely, she finally slipped and fell down, hard on her butt. Ow, that pain’s gonna long last, she thought. She tried to get up, but slipped on the icy path again, and fell down again.
“Ow,” that’s really gonna last long, she thought, closing her eyes and wincing in pain.
“Here.” Miya opened her eyes and looked into the emerald green eyes of the most gorgeous face. Oh, -mental slap-
She mustn’t think so. She just blankly stared into the beautiful face, carved out of perfection, with silky dark hair flowing down to his shoulders in the winter breeze, and a pearly white smile twisted in amusement.
“Miss Flores?” Ah! The way his soft lips took her name. Her heart started beating faster. “Here.” He said again and that’s when her eyes landed on his hand, which he had brought forward to help her up.
She then noticed the delicate snow flakes which landed on his nose, making him look all cuddly.
Oh, and she would have happily taken that warm masculine hand each time she was offered, the broad shoulders of his frame, and embrace into the warmth of his body- only if that BIG smile was not pasted on his face. It was not a smile, it was a mock, which said, “seventeen vs fourteen.”
“No thank you, Mr. Fernandez.” Miya faked a smile and got up. The look in her eyes said, “its not over yet!”
Then she got up, without slipping this time and hurried to the class, leaving Jae all alone in the snow.
His eyes followed her into the corridor until she disappeared round the corner. He looked up into the sky and the clouds indicated that it would be snowing even harder.
He sighed. That was all he could do right now. He knew he was moving towards the wrong direction. But…he just couldn’t help himself. He walked towards the staff room, shaking his hair to get the snow out of it.
Just as the corner, Miya, who was peeking and looking at the green eyed beauty, smiled and walked towards her class.
Up, from the corridors of the third floor, Gabriel tsked, watching everything. He was so close in fulfilling his lover’s wish! If only she had taken his hand in hers!
She hated him! She hated him! She hated him! Miya rushed to the classroom. Unluckily it was English, Mr Fernandez’s class. But, since she had encountered him downstairs, he wouldn’t be in the class. So, her pace relaxed, and she smoothed her dress before stepping into the doorway.
To her shock, he was already there, writing something on the board, and as soon as she saw him, their eyes met, and she felt that something again.
“Miss Flores, you’re late.” He stated calmly.
Miya couldn’t reply. How could he reach the class before her? He was right down with her!
“Get in, Miss Flores.” He said with the same smirk again. Eighteen. Shit, she had to get her payback. Soon!
“Sir.” She nodded, and half-stomped her way to her seat, which according to the rotation policy, was in the end today, thank goodness!
As she sat down, she noticed that he was looking at her with that superior mock again. She rolled her eyes.
“Pssst!” Scarlette called her. Miya turned to her and raised her eyebrows.
“Have I mentioned that I hate him?” Miya said, hotblooded. Scarlette nodded, although she could practically see that Miya was crushing on a particular someone.
