Chapter Ten
“Are you okay?” asked Jace, giving Jasmine a worried look. “You look a little pale…”
Maybe it was because she had wolfed down three large scoops of ice cream in two minutes and got brain freeze, but he was definitely right. She felt odd, dizzy and a need to vomit. Just as she was about to excuse herself from the table and head to the washroom, her cell phone began to ring. Reaching into her pocket, she quickly answered,
“Hello?”
“Jazzy! I’ve been trying to call you all day yesterday, but you never picked up,” said the girl on the other line that Jasmine could only recognize to be Natalia. “Anyways…spill the juicy details girl! Tell me everything about the reality show!”
It was that sentence that confirmed Jasmine’s suspicion on Natalia. For a moment, she forgot all about her body pains. “What kind of friend are you? Huh? Tricking me into a vacation, when really it was a stupid game show! Signing me up without permission! I should sue you! Hear me out when I say that you’re in a whole lot of trouble when I get back!” she exclaimed loudly as several people turned to look her way.
Natalia laughed nervously on the other line. “Hey you don’t mean that! Can’t you realize that everything I do is for your own good….I mean who wouldn’t want to meet a hot, rich, famous guy, and live happily ever after? Anyways, you’ll come to thank me after you marry Alec.”
Jasmine exploded, “Are you crazy? Just because a guy is hot, rich and famous doesn’t mean I’ll want to marry him! Don’t even get me started on how Alec is the biggest jerk of all time…well next to you that is.”
Her friend snorted, “Like I said, when you fall in love with him, don’t forget to pay me.”
“Hah, hah, very funny,” said Jasmine sarcastically. “If anything, all you’re doing is making me suffer and giving me more problems to deal with, such as—” she stopped short to take a glance at Jace who was looking at another direction, pretending that he wasn’t listening to the conversation. She quickly excused herself from the table and headed out of the ice cream parlor before continuing.
“Such as what?” repeated Natalia for the fifth time.
“Such as my dad demanding me to marry some guy name Jace for the benefit of his company… It’s ridiculous, but I don’t think I have much of a choice, sooner or later he’s going to sue me if I don’t agree to it because I owe him money.”
Natalia suddenly squealed, “Is his name Jace Winters?”
“How should I know?”
“Well… is he a friend of Alec’s?”
“I don’t know, maybe?” replied Jasmine slowly.
As if the answer was a yes, Natalia giggled, “Ohh, that’s even better! God Jasmine, you are so lucky! Two guys rich, hot, sexy, guys fighting over you! Now that’s hot!” she exclaimed.
Jasmine rolled her eyes, “Oh please, where did you get that from? They are not fighting over me!”
“Ahh sure for now, but I’m willing to bet my money that they will be soon enough… Anyways, did you kiss Alec yet?”
“I think I rather stab forks in my eyes before I kiss him,” she replied, suddenly feeling the need to vomit again, “Listen, I need to go, but I hope you’re taking good care of my brother and my mother… If you don’t, then when I get out of the show, which should be soon, I’ll make sure the first thing I do is get hungry wolves chase after you,” stated Jasmine before ending the call.
As she walked toward the parlor door, her stomach contracted and she hurled. It didn’t take long to notice that she was vomiting on someone’s shoes. Nervously, Jasmine looked up at the person before abruptly freezing in place.
Anyone would be pretty mad and pissed about getting their shoes ruined from another person’s vomit, but not everyone would look like they were about to murder someone... Alec Dalton stood stiffly as he gave Jasmine a death glare.
“Eww!” screeched a voice, “That is sooo gross!”
It was then that Jasmine noticed the brunette haired girl beside him and a camera man behind the two. She was speechless and was about to run for it, when without warning, the parlor door opened and Jace came rushing out.
He barely glanced at scene before looking towards Jasmine, “Come, I’ll take you to see a doctor. You don’t seem to be alright to me,” he said, quickly grabbing her hand and pulling her towards the parking lot. As Jace passed his friend, there was a split second of tension before Alec spoke.
