Faith Has To Be Gained- Chapter 1
“Oh, Faith! Hurry up, sis! We’re gonna be late!” my older, annoying brother keeps shouting from downstairs. I check my watch quickly.
“But Chuck! We still have ten minutes more. And the bus stop is only three minutes away!” I whined.
“Yes, but I have morning exercise and I want to be sure I won’t be late. Now come or else I’m going alone! Or better, I’m coming upstairs to drag you here!” he mock-threatened loud enough to hear him from my room. So obsessed with basketball! What will happen if he loses practice for one time? You see, Chuck is in the school basketball team, so he wants everything to be perfect, as long as it concerns his favorite sport.
“Coming in a sec!” I replied pouting.
I applied just a bit of make-up, tidied my clothes, a simple white top and shorts. I didn’t want to look like a slut, like the most girls at school, but the weather in California is pretty hot. I walked down the stairs and came face to face with the scowling face of my brother. I grinned innocently and opened the door.
“Let’s go?” I suggested but it sounded more like a question.
Chuck rolled his eyes and took my hand pulling me.
“At last!” he sighed and then laughed. He locked behind him and we started walking towards the bus station.
“Have you heard about the new guy that’s coming today at school?” Chuck asked raising his eyebrow slightly.I gave him a puzzled look.
“New guy?” I muttered like an idiot in confusion.
“That’s what I said. He’s a junior, like you.” he added.
“Hmm…How did you know that, bro?” I asked him curious.
“I have my sources!” he answered and winked at me with a smirk on his face.
“Boys!” I thought.
The moment we arrived at the bus stop, I saw Carmen waiting there, too. She was my best friend. We have been friends since kindergarten and we tell each other everything and when I say everything, I mean everything!
“Hey, pumpkin!” I called her with her funny nickname. I know she hated being called like that in front of other people, but only my brother and I were there.
“Hey, tomato!” she retorted and grinned devilishly. Urgh! I really hate this nickname! My brother created this because of my constant blushing.
“At least it is tomato and not beetroot” he told me once and laughed his ass off.
I blushed again and rolled my eyes. And then the bus came and saved me from any further comment.
We headed to sit to out usual seats at the back of the bus, but mine was taken. I glanced at the boy who was sitting there. He had brown hair that fell in his face a bit and beautiful, bright blue eyes. I coughed slightly.
“Hey…umm…you’re sitting in my seat.” I said calmly not wanting to seem bitchy. My cheeks flushed.
“Oh, I’m sorry!” he said politely. “I’m new here. I didn’t know. My name’s Chase, by the way!” he introduced himself and shot me a grin. I had to admit he was quite cute.
“Nice to meet you, Chase! I’m Faith and this is my brother, Chuck and my best friend, Carmen.” I finished with the introductions.
“Oh, it’s nice to meet someone. I know no one here- well except you. I guess I’ll see you around, guys!” he waved and started to stand up to give me my seat. I decided he was a “good boy”. He could have it.
“No problem! You can have the seat if you want.” I smiled and proceeded to the next seat.
“Thanks!” he said sheepishly.
The ride was quick today and within minutes, we were at school. Or at least, I felt like that. I climbed of the bus and headed to the building.
“I’ll see you at lunch, girls!” my brother chirped. You see, he’s a senior and has different lessons.
Carmen batted her eyelashes and said:
“Ok, Chuck! See ya!”
As you guessed, she has a slight crush. I rolled my eyes at her and walked to my first period classroom.
Unfortunately, Carmen and I had different schedules and in combination to the fact that I wasn’t a very social person, I was alone in classroom.
