Into the Dark: The Story of Selena Snape

spinner.gif

Hello! This is my first HP fanfic, I don't know for sure if I'm gonna follow the HBP storyline just yet, as it might turn into a whole different story, in the POV's of Selena Snape or Severus Snape. Hopefully you'll like it!

Chapter One:

I awoke with a start. I was drenched in sweat from the strange dream I had just experienced. It was quite vivid and I remembered almost every detail. I was in Borgin and Burkes at Diagon Alley and all I could see was myself and a very dark figure with slits for a nose mumbling a different language to himself. It was almost in a hissing tone. I then realized who this was. The Dark Lord. He grabbed me by my left wrist and pulled his creme colored wand out of the pocket of his cloak. He placed the tip of his wand on my left forearm as a word I have never heard of escaped his mouth; "Mosmordre!" he cried. One split second later my forearm began to burn and I felt unimaginable pain in the process. I tried to let out a scream, but as soon as I was about to, the pain left and a very black tattoo appeared on my arm. It was of a skull with a snake coming out of its mouth. I then realized this was the Dark Mark. The Dark Lord has recruited me to be a Death Eater. Something I was always interested in since my father, Severus Snape, was an ex-Death Eater.

I then came out of my deep thought from the dream and reached over from my bed to grab my wand. I muttered the word, "Lumos" and a beam of light appeared at the tip of my wand. I then rolled my left pajama sleeve down and checked my arm. All there was, was peach skin, no black tattoo. I sighed and rolled it back down, extinguishing my light simultaneously. I went back to bed thinking all about the dream and trying to have the same one again, but never did.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

When the morning arrived, I hopped out of bed and opened my curtains to see that it was raining outside once again, as it normally did here in Spinner's End. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, put on a new set of clothes, and headed downstairs to greet father in the sitting room. He was sitting on his armchair, reading the newest issue of the Daily Prophet.

"Good morning father," I said in a cool tone.

"Good morning Selena, breakfast is on the kitchen table," he said in the same cool tone. You could totally tell we were related. I had long, jet black hair and dark eyes just like him, and had the same, emotionless expressions and voice. I had the same pointy nose, which was truely uncanny. You would think I was his twin or something.

I made my way to the kitchen and sat down to eat breakfast. All I could think about was the dream I had last night, and what exactly it meant. Was it really just a dream? Or was it something that could possibly happen someday? I mean, it happened to my own dad when he was around 17. And I'm 16, so it's just a little weird how I would have this type of dream when I'm so close in age as father was to becoming a Death Eater.

But anyway, I'm Selena Snape. A sixth year Slytherin at Hogwarts and a very talented young witch. My best subject has always been Defense against the Dark Arts because I had always been intrigued with the Dark Arts, just like my dad when he was young. Father had taught me more spells than anyone could before I even arrived at Hogwarts, and I was top in all of my classes, besides that know-it-all Gryffindor Hermione Granger, as dad always calls her. I'm very successful in Slytherin House, just like dad again, and my best friend is Draco Malfoy, who suddenly I started to have more feelings than friends for lately. I disliked most people in Gryffindor, especially that no good Harry Potter, who always got on father's nerves, so he did with me too.

Dad usually told me everything about his past, how he was bullied by the Marauders, which included James Potter, who was father's worst enemy. He told me how Potter stole the love of his life from him, Lily Evans, and was never happy again onced they married and unfortunately was killed fifteen years ago. The only thing father would never tell me, was who my mother was and why he truely hated Harry so much.

But enough of that. Let's get back to reality. As I finished my breakfast and put all the dishes and glasses back in the cupboards, I rejoined father in the sitting room, who was now rearranging books on the shelf. I knew that I had to tell him about the dream, as it could have some significance to him and the Dark Lord.
