The Party

“It’s perfect.” Ella said.

I twirled in front of the mirror. “You sure? Isn’t is a little short?” I tugged on the hemline of the dress I was trying on.

It was Friday, and Ella and I were dress-shopping for the party that evening. We’d already found a dress for Ella. It looked something like this: http://weheartit.com/entry/63687380/via/maykool

I was trying on a dress that looked like this: http://weheartit.com/entry/65880595 (ignore the heels and necklace).

“Don’t be a prude, Ari.” Ella rolled her eyes. She stood up and walked over to me.

“It fits you perfectly. You look good.” She said.

“And it’s not too fancy or too casual?” I persisted.

“Arianna Lexie Gilmore, it’s perfect. Now get your skinny little body over to the cashier and pay for it already!” Ella said, looking through a jewellery display absentmindedly.

I headed back into the changing room, and stripped out of the dress, tossing it over the changing room door. “Ells, could you take this and stand in line while I get dressed?” I called.

There was no reply. I poked my head out of the door, Ella wasn’t there.

I sighed, and went back to pulling my shorts on and pulling my tank top over my head.

I was halfway out the door when I bumped into someone.

“Oh sorry.” They said in a British accent.

“No problem, I wasn’t—” I paused when I glanced up to see who the voice belonged to.

It was none other than James Franco, my seventh grade boyfriend.

 “James!” I said, surprised.

“Arianna Gilmore.” He said, smiling. “How’s it going?” he asked in his British chirp.

“I’m good, how’ve you been? It’s been a while!” I said.

“I’m alright, yeah, I don’t think we’ve talked since before I left for England a year ago.”

“England?”

“Yes, my dad’s business transferred him there, but now we’re back.”

“Great, we should uh, catch up.” I said.

Before he could reply, a short blonde walked out of the changing room next to mine and walked straight over to James.

“Arianna, this is Lester, my fiancé.” He introduced.

 Fiancé?

“Oh, hi.” I smiled brightly at her.

 She smiled back, “Hello.”

“So, you two are engaged?” I said, still processing the news.

“Yes, we’re getting married next month.” She said.

“Well, congratulations!” I said.

“Honey, I have to pay for this.” Lester said to James, brandishing a short blue dress.

“Well, it was great seeing you Arianna, we should catch up soon!” James said, before following Lester to the cashier.

“See you!” I waved at him as he left.

“Who was that?” Ella said, walking up to me right as James left.

“James Franco.” I said, wanting to see if she’d recognize him as one of my exes.
