Two months.

Two whole stupid months since she was out!

Emerie huffed, eating her breakfast in annoyance while Damaris fed her as though she was a baby. Damaris treated her like a baby.

“Mum I’m not a baby!” Emerie snapped, glaring at her mother who only chuckled.

“I know Emerie,” she said with a wry smile. “But I never got to spend your childhood with you.”

Emerie’s black eyes softened and she hugged her mother. “Whatever mum. Don’t get all mushy on me OK?”

“Yes Emeria,” she teased, pulling back and met Emerie’s scowl at the mention of her real name.

“Where’s dad?” Emerie demanded, stretching a little to get rid of the ache in her tensed muscles in her back and chest.

“Oh helping with the constructions around the kingdom,” she said with a small smile.

She cleared away her daughter’s breakfast and took it with her as she walked out. “Go easy on her,” Damaris warned to the group of teens at her daughter’s door before she walked off with the tray of food.

“Emerie!”

Emerie let out a huff of annoyance as she was bombarded with a massive group hug. “Get off me you retards! Ugh you guys act completely ridiculous!”

“Emerie we missed that so much!” Raquel gushed, ruffling the younger girl’s hair.

Everybody noticed the visible white streak down the middle of Emerie’s hair as Raquel tousled it.

“I will never get over how weird that looks,” Libby commented, tugging on the thick lock of white. “It looks like you’re an Air Elemental except that you dyed your hair black.”

“Thanks Libby,” Emerie said sarcastically. “Why are you guys such dorks? I woke up two stupid months ago!”

“But we’ll never get tired of hearing that annoyingly mean and sarcastic voice of yours!” Raquel cried out, tackling her friend in a ginger hug.

“Not to mention your comments that always seemed to make us laugh,” Darryl added amusedly.

“And the way you fail whenever I beat you in a fight,” Cian added with a grin.

“You idiot!” Emerie shouted, lunging for her brother who disappeared the instant she got up.

She landed with a pained gasp on the floor.

All the others were speechless.

Why had Emerie fallen? Why didn’t she use the Air to catch herself?

But then again Nurse Whatford kept a strict eye on her whenever she tried to use her abilities.

Emerie let out a groan of pain as the boys helped her to her feet. “What happened?”

“You fell like a total idiot,” Cian snickered. “And I beat you again.”

She growled, clenching her fists. “I’m so going to kill you when I’m in the right condition!”

“You’re a cripple!” Cian sang jumping around the room. “Emerie’s a cripple! Emerie’s a cripple!”

“Don’t make fun of a cripple,” Raquel scolded, sending a blast of fire at her boyfriend.

Cian dodged it with a smirk as Raquel quickly stopped it before it burnt the whole room down. He picked up his girlfriend and swung her around, kissing her.
