The Party

Okay. So this is my first serious story here comparing to the others that I have. What I want from you is to read it and give me some FEEDBACK. Like it, comment it, review it. I just want to know if you guys would be interested in reading a story like this.

**************

It wasn't as if anyone got hurt.

It was two years ago at my best friend's birthday party. I was there, Mackenzie was there, Matt, Jessie, Taylor, Olivia, Ashley, John, Drew, Alex, James, Brad, Nate, and Elizabeth were there and there were few other people I didn't know. It was Mackenzie's birthday party. We were all having fun with the music and everything. We were waiting for Mackenzie's twin brother Max to open the presents. He went out to get some snacks for us. So we were having fun.

Mackenzie was with her boyfriend, Alex, on the side away from us making out. Suddenly all the lights went out. It was pitch black everywhere. Then everyone started screaming. Then we heard the doorbell. Strange thing was that the power went out, yet the doorbell seemed to work. Everyone was freaking out.

"Somebody open the door!" James screamed.

"It could be Max,” said Mackenzie then I yelled "No. Stop. Let someone strong open the door that way he can protect himself and us."

"Yeah, you're right. I will look at the door," suggested Matt. He was tall and muscular (and handsome too) and strong enough to protect us all: maybe not all of us but some of the weak people.

Everybody agreed that Matt should go, so Matt went to the doorknob and opened the door. He looked outside then he looked at us but I realized that his face lost color. He was WHITE!

"What is it Matt?" I asked concerned.

"There is no one here"

"Well I guess someone accidentally came to our house, it is dark outside after all." Said Mackenzie.

"NO. No. They left an envelope here."

"Maybe-" said Mackenzie but then Matt cut her off and said "It has blood on it."

Everyone was shaken. There were few people who started crying. There were others who wanted to go home. Most of us were scared and didn't know what to do. Someone from the back suggested opening the envelope.

"What's the worst thing possible?" asked John.

He had a point actually. There was nobody around. It's not like they were going to attack us.

We all encouraged Matt to open the envelope. He came inside and closed the door behind him then locked it.

"Guys we have a problem."

Everyone looked at Matt.

"What is it Matt?" I asked curiously. "Other than the fact that there is blood on the envelope." I added.

"The power is still out; we can't see anything."

We didn't exactly know what to do, at last Mackenzie said, "There are decorative candles in my room. I don't use them very often but we can light them up."

It was a pretty good idea. At least it was better than mine. It was to use our cell phone’s backlight but then if it ran out of battery that wouldn’t be a good thing for a lot of people. Not for me at least, my mom needed to know where I was if I was late.

Mackenzie quickly went to her room and came with the candle. It smelled good, too. It was one of those that smelt like ocean breeze. Few people along her went to the kitchen to light the candle.

It was quiet for a long minute.

Everybody looked at Mackenzie when she came back. We all went around Matt to see him open the envelope. Inside the envelope we found a letter written to all of us at the party.

Dear friends,

I wrote this letter to all of you because I am in trouble. When you read this I probably won’t be there ever. The reason I am writing this is that I am not the only one in trouble. You guys are also in trouble. Yes, Mackenzie, Max, Sarah, Matt, Jessie, Taylor, Olivia, Ashley, John, Drew, Alex, James, Brad, Nate, and Elizabeth; you are all in trouble.

When I first met all of you, I didn’t think I would drag you down with me. I didn’t want any one of you to get in the trouble I am in right now. So, you should follow my directions as I tell you.

We all looked at Matt, who was reading the letter, in confusion. Then Jessie asked, “Who is it from? Why is this person in trouble?’”  Both of her questions made sense.

Matt skipped to the last part to see if the guy put his name on the sheet.
