The air around her was frigid. The sun was overshadowed by the persistent rain clouds. But when she glanced at who was laying next to her, Melina's body instantly filled with warmth.

Aiden. He looked so peaceful...finally. Last night was brutal on him. He wept in her arms until he fell asleep. It was Melina who had to wake him up and usher him into her bedroom.

Melina slowly sat up in her bed, assuring that she didn't shuffle too much to wake him, and she leaned against her head board. Aiden's face was flawless. His hair had dried and returned to it's usual state, the color returned back to his cheeks and lips...the only remnants of his emotional battle was the deep rose color on his nose.

A tiny smile crept over Melina's lips, as she turned to watch him more closely.

The things he was saying yesterday....what did they mean..? Who were those people, and why does he seem to take responsibility for Skylars death...?

The questions flooded Melina's mind, but she forced them back. All Aiden needed was her support and comfort....there would be times for questions later.

Melina gently placed her fingers over the top of his hairline. She couldn't help it. Somedays he felt unreal...like the man in front of her was bound to let her down, sooner or later.

But she loved him. Her heart was no stranger to him. As she ran her fingers softly through his thick black hair...and over the contours of his structured face..she heard her heart pound into her chest. She loved Aiden. Melina felt it swelling in her being every moment that passed.

Aiden felt Melina's gentle carress and pulled his eyes open. The small smile that met his gaze made his body shiver. She was so beautiful...

Aiden raised his hand and placed his fingers on top of hers. There was something different in the way that she looked at him, and it made his heart beat at an endless speed.

"Hi..." Melina whispered to Aiden, who was now awake, and gazing into her with those convicting eyes of his.

"Hi.." Aiden responded. His voice was terribly hoarse and heavy from the night before. Aiden noticed it and his face flamed. He was ashamed. Melina wasn't supposed to see him like that...so weak and vulnerable..

"I don't care Aiden...you were not weak...you were mourning for your brother..and I don't see you any differently.." The words seemed to flow out of Melina without her doing. She gasped when she heard the words come put of her mouth and she hurriedly turned away from Aiden.

Aiden's eyes shot open and he sat up abruptly in her bed. He was positive he did not express his thoughts out loud. In fact he was sure that he was thinking them...

But Melina knew....

She could sense what he was feeling...

Aiden bored his gaze into the side of Melina's face. Her scent was starting to change...

"I-I I am so sorry Aiden...it was presumptuous for me to say that. I'm sorry..!!" Melina hurriedly apologized and without looking at him, she threw her legs over the bed and hurriedly rushed out of the room.

Her room door slammed shut and Aiden heard her footsteps hastily running away from the door.

Aiden leaned against her headboard, speechless.

Only true mates had the ability to tap into one another thoughts...which could only happen once their mating had been complete. Aiden could feel the bond between him and Melina growing stronger each day...but they were no where near mated yet. Aiden hadn't even marked her.

She shouldn't be able to tap into his thoughts...

....but she just did.

Aiden released a heavy sigh and slammed his head against the wooden board. He felt his pulse accelerating, just by the thought of it all. Melina was the one who he was destined to be with and it sent electric pulses through his veins.
