In My Eyes, You're Perfect

Ari POV

      I sat on my bed with my song notebook, tapping my pen against the paper. I thought about new lyrics for my song.

      I thought I felt something cold, but I just ignored it and went back to the song. I sang some of the lyrics, but it didn't help.

      Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I gasped and jumped. I looked over at my intruder and relaxed instantly when I saw who it was.

      "How did you get in here, Dawson?" I asked him.

      "Window," he replied, smirking. I rolled my eyes at him.

      "So, what are you up to?"

      "Just thinking of new lyrics for this song," I said.

      "Yeah, about that," he said hesitantly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Who were you singing about?"

      My heart stopped in my chest. Oh no, I thought. He doesn't know I like him, does he?

      "Um.... just.. someone I really like.." I trailed off.

      "Oh," he said, sounding... disappointed.

      "Yeah," I replied. "He's... amazing. He's cute, funny, kind, and I just love his personality. I like him for him."

...TIME SKIP...

Dawson POV

      I walked down the hall with Ari. As we were walking to her locker, Nissa stopped us.

      "Oh, hi Dawson... Gothica," she snorted.

      "Hello, witch," Ari said, crossing her arms over her chest.

      "Look who's talking," Nissa replied.

      "You," Ari retorted.

      "You're a freak."

      "You're shallow!"

      "You don't deserve to live!" Nissa shouted, then widened her eyes at what she said.

      Ari widened her eyes, too. I saw tears stream down her face as she ran out of the school.

      I turned and glared at Nissa. "You've got no heart," I muttered. Then I ran after Ari.

      I heard a lot of "Good job" and "Nice" and "You're right Nissa". But I just kept running towards Ari.

      When I finally found her, she was sitting underneath a tree. She was hugging her knees to her chest, her face buried in them.

      I walked over to her slowly. "Ari?"

      "Go away," she murmured.

      "I'm not going away. You can't get rid of me that easy, y'know."

      I sat next to her, and she lifted her face. She was crying a lot; her eyes were bloodshot.

      "She's right, you know," Ari said hoarsely. "I don't deserve to live."

      "Arianna Makalya Tanner, don't you dare talk like that," I scolded. "You know you deserve to live. Don't listen to Nissa."

      "Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry. She's just..."

      "Shallow?"

      She smirked. "Duh."

      Then, she hugged me.
