Chapter 6

Confused

“Look, we’re in this together, so why don’t we try to get along?” I asked her.

“You lost that chance when you let me win,” she snarled.

“You’re never gonna let this go, are you?”

But she wasn’t listening to me. She was scowling at something above my shoulder. She shoved me and rushed towards a group of guys.

I recognized all three of them for they were werewolves themselves. Two of them were picking on the omega.

I watched her grab Greg by his collar and throw him on the opposite wall. He crashed on the wall and slowly slid on the floor, half-unconscious. She then stepped towards Phil, a boy that was missing a part of his left ear, and I saw his eyes widening in fear as he stepped back, holding up his hands in defense.

“Don’t ever touch him again!” she growled. “Or I swear I’ll kill you!”

Phil nodded and ran away, taking Greg along with him.

And then, she did something that scared me because it made me kind of angry. She gently cupped the omega’s face in her hands and smiled at him. It was a sweet smile, kind of loving. And it made my blood boil. She then kissed his forehead and ruffled his hair. And that was all it took to make me lose it.

I punched the wall next to me and stormed out of the building. Quite frankly, I didn’t understand why I was so pissed. I mean, I didn’t even like her, so why did it affect me this much?

Deep down, I knew why. She was supposed to be mine but she didn’t want it. I was destined to be the next Alpha but she liked the omega more than me. That was a huge bruise to my ego. How did she dare do this? What was wrong with her?

I growled and felt an arm wrapping around mine. I almost pushed away the one who did that, but stopped myself just in time when I realized it was Amber.

“Darren,” she cooed, seductively tracing a line with her finger on my torso.

The way she was clinging to my arm, I had a perfect view of her cleavage. I immediately felt my anger vanish. I didn’t even know why I was angry anymore now.

“Amber,” I replied with a smirk, tracing her jaw as I dived into her golden eyes.

“Oh, what happened to your face?” she asked, slightly concerned.

That made me frown. Now I remembered why I was mad.

Stupid crazy girl! And stupid omega!

“Yeah, what happened?” Ian, my best friend, asked, walking up to us with Lloyd and Julian following close behind. “Looks like you got your face sucked by a dog,” he joked.

I laughed bitterly. He wasn’t that far from the truth.

“Just got into a fight,” I replied. “No big deal.”

I walked back inside the school with the four of them and got to my locker. On our way, we walked by Alexia, her human friend and the omega. She had an arm wrapped around his shoulder and he had one wrapped around her waist. I clenched my fists involuntarily and sped up the pace.

I thought she said that those who wanted her to be their girlfriend had to fight her? Then why was she with him? Surely, he hadn’t won the fight. There was a reason why he was the omega for fuck’s sake! He couldn’t fight even if his life depended on it!

“Are you okay?” Lloyd asked me.

“What?” I asked, getting back to reality.

“You growled and you kinda look like you’re going to murder someone.”

Well, where to start? The girl I’m supposed to mate with is a psycho but I can’t stand the sight of her with another, yet I don’t even like her and I’d rather die than touch her but there’s the fact that I can’t stand her being with someone else. What is freaking wrong with me?!

“I’m just not in a good mood today,” I replied.

“What happened?” Amber asked.

“Dad found me a mate.”

It had slipped right out of my mouth and I was as surprised as they were by my words.

“What?!” she shrieked, making heads turn to look at us. “Who is she?! Is it Kimberly?”

“No.”

“I bet it’s Rachel. Or is it Eleanor? Jenna maybe?”

“No, no and certainly not.”

“Then who? Don’t tell me it’s Allyson!”

She had said that name with pure hatred in her eyes. I didn’t understand why though. Allyson was the nicest girl in the pack. Maybe even too nice for her own good. Quite the opposite of her sister. It was even shocking to even think that they were related.
