Meet The Nerd - Prologue
Well, how should I start this?
I guess....I'll start off by telling you guys my name.
Riley, Riley Johnson, or my 'friend' calls me Ri.
Yes, friend, not friend(s). And his, thats right HIS name is Jake, my childhood best friend.
There's James too, but he's just my brother you'll learn about him later on.
FYI this plot isn't about me (The Nerd) who falls in love with a (Jock) that's just way too overly used and not related to my story at all.
This is just a story about love and romance and well...relationships I guess.
This is a story that can make you cry and laugh and do both at the same time. Because that's what I did, I know pathetic but you'll learn why soon.
All in all, this is a story about two best friends, high school, and life.
The way it is from my perspective at least, so meet me, the nerd of Night Val High.
"WAKE UP YOU GREEN MEAN EATING MACHINE!" Jake screamed, ripping the blanket off my bed.
I shot up; a chill running down my spine as I noticed the little circulation I had.
When opening my eyes and rubbing them, rays of sunshine blinded me.
Groaning, I threw my head back. Sleep invading my thoughts for a moment or two, before I realized what time it was.
After a moment of silence I glanced sideways, meeting Jake's playful glare which always seems to be so darn cheerful.
I hate morning people. Period.
I glared at him and slid my legs out of the comforters. "SHUT THE F UP! SOME PEOPLE WERE TRYING TO SLEEP JAKE!!!" I yelled throwing my pillow at him.
Jake's almond shaped hazel eyes widened comically as the pillow flew directly at his face. Falling flat on his back with an 'oomph'.
I stood up, both hands on hips thing that girls usually do when there mad and glared at his lying figure. Jake quickly removed the pillow from his face and glared at me, a playful smile on his lips.
I stuck out my tongue. "Well at least you're awake." He stated optimistically. "Well isn't that obvious." I stated sarcastically, gritting my teeth together while placing my square framed glasses on.
My vision suddenly became clearer and I took everything in. From my lilac wallpaper to my green carpeted floor.
"Yeah it actually is because I don't know how someone could throw a pillow at me in their sleep." He laughed.
"I was being s-." I started before James rudely interrupted me. "Riley, get your butt down here." He called from the kitchen.
"Be right there." I yelled back, irritation leaking in my voice.
I looked back at Jake and pointed at the door. He sighed, heading out at zombie like speed and no I don't mean those movies where zombies are crazy and run faster than their victims.
As he left the room, I began to shut the door. His foot shot out at the last second and the door slammed onto it.
"Owwww!" Jake cried, clutching his foot as he backed away from the door.
"You're an idiot." I stated and slammed it in his face.
I slid my closet door opened and grabbed whatever I touched first. A black T-shirt that said 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark', a gray hoodie and a pair of faded blue jeans. Grabbing my side bag from the desk I began placing my homework inside.
I sighed, feeling the effects of last night. Yesterday, some kids decided to pull a prank on me and push me into some lockers. I shuttered, a groan escaping me as my back began to ache again.
"Riley!" James called again. I sighed. Just another day in wonderland. Not. As I opened the door, Jake froze; hiding slightly to my side like always.
"Boo!" Jake screeched, his voice cracking as I brushed past him and headed down stairs.
After a few seconds his loud footsteps fell in sync behind me. "Why aren't you scared?" He asked after we entered the kitchen. "Cause your not scary." I stated bluntly.
"Morning, Riley. Jake." James said, drinking his morning coffee. "Morning Jay." I grabbed an apple and headed out.
"Hey wait for me!" Jake called out from inside my house.
Ignoring Jake and taking a bite out of my apple I smiled mischievously.
After finishing my apple, I dropped the remains in the garbage can and grabbed my skateboard from the stairs.
As I prepared myself to leave Minnesota's November air bit at my exposed skin. Hearing Jake's quickened footsteps behind me I quickly rode away
"Wait! Riley Wait. Ompf." Shoot. Rolling my eyes I slowed my pace to a stop.
Turning around I found Jake slowly following me limping with a small red blotch forming on his pant leg. A sharp sensation filled me but I pushed it away shaking my head.
