Hello guys! It's me (obviously), here with an update before I run off to work to go and attempt to woo a certain adorable co worker of mine, haha :P Anyway I just wanted to say how overwhelmed and happy I was with the response to the repost of the first chapter, and I really do appreciate you all. I hope you like this slightly more serious chapter, and I'd love it if you let me know what you think ;) Le picture at the side is of the gorgeous Jim Sturgess, who in this photo is absolutely the Drew I envision in my mind :) Lots of love, River. xoxo

'Oh shit.' Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.

Picking up my hand which held the pregnancy test in it by the wrist, Laina took a look for herself at the result which would undoubtedly change my life completely.

'On the bright side,' Laina said cheerfully, her gaze locked with the line that held the answer, 'blue's always been your favourite colour!'

I shot her an unimpressed look. 'Now is not the time for one of your inappropriate comments, Laina! I'm freaking out here!' Running a hand through my hair, I let out a shaky breath and sat down heavily on the sofa in Laina's flat.

The moment that I had realised what might have been happening when my bloody (pardon the pun) period was late, I ran to the nearest shop I knew would sell a pregnancy test. Admittedly I was too embarrassed to buy one at first, with it taking me five whole minutes to pluck up the courage to even go to that sort of section.

I kept my head down and hardly dared to look at the person at the counter – which happened to be this poor boy who couldn't have been a day over sixteen. He must have been relatively new to the job too, considering he was finding it as difficult to make eye contact with me as I was with him. As quickly as I could, I slapped down my money and made a run for it.

When it came to actually taking the test I had even less courage, which meant one thing: Laina.

Having stowed the incriminating box in my handbag after legging it out of Boots, I rushed to her flat, chest becoming tighter with every passing second. One glance at the box I held up in front of her was all she needed to understand when she opened her front door, however.

Laina already knew about what had happened on the night of Mia's wedding – the whole sleeping with Drew Turner thing, which I confessed to her like I confessed everything. She was like my own personal priest, but without all of the morals and the cool collar, since I suspected a priest wouldn't respond with "You dirty dog! Tell me everything." when you told them about having a one night stand. With her mermaid green hair and pierced nose, Laina didn't really look the part, either.

After leaving Drew's hotel room without a word (but equipped with a hangover it took me two full days to get over), contraception had completely escaped my mind. I could only recall the night in flashes, taking it as a given that we had used a condom. Besides, I was too ashamed at my own actions when I woke up to bother dwelling – all I could do was run before he had the chance to. Drew Turner had a reputation (well, according to what the press said, at least) as being the kind of guy who took off every time trouble was within a mile of him.

And this was most certainly what Drew Turner would classify as trouble.

Never had I thought for a second that something like this could happen to me.

Laina took a long, searching look at my face and decided that maybe it was finally time to be serious. 'All right,' she said gently. 'But seriously Supernova, you're up the duff. And do you understand what that means?' She looked at me expectantly, her dark eyebrows (which I had begged her not to dye green too) raised. The old nickname offered me comfort, giving me a link to the old life I felt I had totally lost in the space of just over three minutes.
