Teacher looked up at me. His eyes were hard, and cold.

“Get out of my damn classroom right now! And go to the princepals office”

He yelled.

I scrambled all of my books into a backpack with my hands shaking.

I started walking towards the door.

“Don’t you ever come back here if you don’t want to learn math.”

I opened the door and walked out.

I started towards the principal office. And slumped my bag onto the floor when I

got there. I pulled the journal out of my bag and started reading again.

I found the journal entry that I left off at.

February 11, 1939

But the door to the room creaked open and Charlie was standing in the door way

with his hair in front of his face, and his fitted cap on to the side, the left corner of his

mouth curved upward into a crooked smile and he looked up.  He must of caught the

secretary’s eye because she stopped typing and smiled at him.

“Can I help you?”

The secretary asked.

He took a letter out of his pocket and handed it to the secretary.

“My name is Charlie Milano.”

My head shot up and looked at him when he said that name.  When I first met him he

Told me his last name was Edwards like the boy in the journal. He continued talking

to the secretary.

“Today is my first day her, my father enrolled me here. I would like to fix my class schedule, it doesn’t suit me.”

He said.

She smiled. Pulled open a drawer open, and handed him a list of classes.

“Just see what times the classes you want to change are at and what other classes are at that time and I will put in a request for a change.”

She said.

“Thanks”

Charlie said.

He took the list and sat down next to me.

“What are you doing here?”

He asked looking down the list of classes.

“I got in trouble for reading in class,”

I said back to him.

I turned the journal upside down.

“What are you reading? “

He asked.

“Nothing”

I said.

Charlie shamelessly reached over and picked the journal up from my lap. I felt

nervous.  His eyes widened as his saw the cover of the journal. He ran his fingers

down the side of the notebook. He looked up and stared blankly as he flipped

through the pages aimlessly. The pages sounded like a deck of cards being shuffled

around.

“Where did you get this?”

He asked.

“At the old hospital.”

I said to him nervously.

Charlie breathed deeply in and sighed.  He put the journal in his bag and zipped it up.

“You shouldn’t be reading this.”

He said.

“We need to talk.”

I was speechless at that.

He grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of  the office.

“Wait! I left my bag, and I don’t want to go with you.”

Charlie’s passive gentle ways quickly vanished.  He turned around so our faces were

Two inches away from each other. I felt nervous and almost drawn to him.

“We’ll get them later, and you have to come with me. I need to show you something”
