Chapter 1:New Friends
"Oh great!" I slammed on the brakes. The car behind me blared its horn. I guess this is what you get for moving into a small town, you pass up your own school. I turned around on the next block and headed back towards it.
The parking lot was twice the size of the actual school. I picked a spot close to the front door and turned off my car. I could already feel the heat from outside seeping in through the windows. My first day at this school and I was already having a bad day. This morning I couldn't find anything to wear. My hair looks horrible and my car well. I looked around the parking. My car stuck out against all the trucks and SUV's. I came from a huge town in Maine. Freezing weather I loved. I didn't know how I would handle the hot Texas weather. I looked at the people in the parking lot. One guy in particular caught my eye. He was tall from what could tell. He had dark brown hair that hung down in his face. He was really good looking. He stood there staring at my car. Assessing it. I looked down at the black shirt and dark blue jeans I wore. My hair was down today. Loose curls hung to the center of my back and my bangs covered me right eye like always. My hair was almost looked black but when you got it in the sunlight you could tell it was brown. I looked horrible today.
A tallish girl with long blond hair ran up to the guy's side. She was most likely a cheerleader or at least student council president. Maybe both. She hung onto his arm and kissed him lightly on his cheek. He looked annoyed by it and I let out a small giggle.
I opened the door to my car and as I expected everyone turned around to look at me including the really cute guy and his girlfriend. I pulled my purse up higher on my arm and started walking towards the main office. I was almost to the door when I felt someone tap me lightly on the shoulder.
"Hi! My name is Libby. Your new here right?" The blond that I had seen earlier was standing next to me. I nodded. "Good. Do you want me to show you around?"
"Uh sure." I replied and then added "My names Tabitha by the way, but you can call me Tabi. Before you ask I am not some kind of cat." She laughed and then like we had been best friends forever she linked her arm through mine and we started walking to the office again.
We walked a couple more feet and I felt someone else tap me on the shoulder.
"Hi." The guy that I had seen earlier towered over me. He must have been six foot tall. His eyes were green and man were they beautiful. When I say that this guy is hot that doesn't even cover it. He's gorgeous. "My name is Jared." He flipped his hair out of his eyes and extended his hand. I shook his hand ignoring the almost unnoticeable zing of electricity that went through our hands. His eyes widened a bit and I wondered if he had felt the strange electric current that ran through our fingertips in those few seconds.
"Hey baby do you mind helping me show Tabi around today?" Libby asked. Jared looked annoyed but then smiled at me.
"No prob." He smiled at me again and then turned towards Libby. Since our arms were still hooked together he grabbed her available hand. He looked a little puzzled for a moment and then he frowned at their hands. He stared at them for a second and then shook his head as we walked into the school.

Libby went to the front desk and asked for our schedules. She stood arm outstretched waiting for them. The secretary handed her three sheets of paper. Libby looked at mine and hers and compared them.
"Are you like extremely smart or what? You have senior classes this year. We are juniors you should take junior classes!" I frowned. I hated always being the smart person. "Sorry I just feel dumb now. Oh well looks like Jared will be showing you around today. Looks like I will be all alone again." I for some reason felt happy, but played along with Libby and felt sad for her. Libby's cell phone rang and she pulled it out staring at the screen. She typed for a second and then looked up at us. "See you guys at lunch. Love ya." She gave me a hug which I found surprising and then kissed Jared on the cheek and raced out the door.

"Ready to go?"Jared asked me holding open the door. I smiled and nodded walked through it. I walked slowly down the hallway next to Jared. "So I am guessing you have a Cherry red 04 mustang. Red and Black interior and if you haven't changed it you have a stereo compatible with iPod's and mP3's" I stared at him my mouth hanging open.
