Hey, this is a story about a young girl named Brittany Schawk, her old crush and how she deals with him and her insecurities with the help from thee very different characters- Her best friend Lizzy, who is the complete opposite of her. Her big brother Andi, who can be oblivious at some times but always there for a hug. And a new found friends of hers who seems to be the only one Brittany feels she can really open up to. He just might be the perfect guy for her. The only problem- she's doesn't even know him. He's only known as Casper_Flip. Enjoy!

"I think I just proved my point."

"Want another course?"

Those haunting words were still ringing in my ears to this day. That was over six year ago and they still where as loud as day breaking through you window; quiet yet piercing. Piercing right through my heart every time.

And it didn't matter how loud I turned my i-pod up, they still where there, as clear as the sky above me. I was standing at the top of the stairs that led to the half pipe below me.
It was my brother, Andrew's skateboard competition. I looked at my ticket of my seat, hoping I had misread the number of it. But I hadn't. I was C-23; and he was right there, in C-25.... Life was so unfair.
I took a deep breath and walked down the rest of my steps to my aisle. I sat down in my seat with out making any contact.
"Please don't notice me! Please don't notice me!"
I said over and over in my head. But it was to no avail.
"Britt?"
I looked two seats over to where Landon Banks was sitting.
"Oh, hey Landon." I said with false enthusiasm.
"I didn't even see you there." A lie.
He smiled at me then turned back to the sport.
Wow what a conversation.
"Hey Britt." I looked to my right. There was Ricky, Landon's older brother. "Hey!"
That was not false enthusiasm. I really did like Ricky; he was always nice to me. I stood up from my seat and gave him a hug.
"Oh my god, it's been so long sense I've seen you. Wow you've gotten so grown up!"
I gave a shy smile and mumbled a thank you under my breath.
"Man, I bet you get all the boys chasing after you, huh?"
I gave a laugh, the small flicker of memory playing in my head.
"Yeah, right." I chuckled again.
"You sitting here?" I asked gesturing to the seat in-between Landon and I. "Yeah, yeah."
He confirmed. I maneuvered myself out of his way onto the stairs so he could make his way through. And gave a little thank you up to heaven for having some one I could actually stand (and someone who liked me as well) sit in-between the empty seat that seemed to have an invisible wall for Landon and me.
"Andi on yet?" Ricky asked as he sat down in the seat.
"Um, no not yet; I just talk to him back stage, his heats up in about ten." "Sweet! He pumped?"
I laughed with the image in my head.
"Yeah, last I saw, he was jumping up and down with his i-pod, going- 'here we go, here we go!' over and over."
Ricky laughed at my impression then turned to Landon.
"So how about you? Huh, little bro, you all ready and pumped? Cause your heats the next one up after Andi."
"Oh, you're skating today?"
I asked looking at Landon in the eyes for the first time today. He gave a quick glance back at me.
"Yeah, sixth heat."
And turned back to the skaters finishing up. The blown horn ran as Andi made his way into the cement pool and the skater before him made his way out.
"Woohoo! Alright, come on Andi!"
I stood up and started applauding. Ricky was up with me soon after, cheering on Andi as well, and after a while Landon decided to join us. He did a kickflip wallplant for his first trick, swerved his way around the pool with other maneuvers and ended with a crossbone in the air and landing with a crailtap. The whole crowd cheered for him at that point
(Rick and I the loudest in the crowd).
"Okay, that's my cue. I'm the first in my heat."
Landon explained as he made his way to the stairs cutting through me and Ricky.
"Alright, good luck little bro."
He picked up his board from the side (which I had not noticed till now was leaning against my seat).
"Thanks, man."
"Yeah, good luck."
I said as he turned toward the nearest entrance; he gave a weak smile and disappeared. Well- I thought to myself- at least now you're actually getting acknowledgment from him, that's progress.
The rest of the competition was a drag after Landon; he did a fronside Ollie and a kingtip to start off his heat and ended with a Japan air and landed on a 50-50 grind but then blew it as he slid down the side of the pool when he finished.
