Preface
It was cold, dark, and gloomy. The sky looked fresh and open, as though it was a blanket laid above for everyone to gaze at its fine art. Evaina could make out every planet, every star, every comment, every moon, but her favourite was Earth.
Earth was one of the smallest planets yet she’d heard so many things about it. What separated Earth from other planets was the fact that there were people like us living on it, doing things like us, eating, drinking, and living lives. They had normal kitchens like us, with pans and stoves, cars that roamed there planet. They were more developed in the technology then us, we barely ever used it.
I guess the only thing that separated Earth from us was time. We didn’t count time; it was meaning less to us. Sure we had days of the year-but the year been only another year. Never having a name or being counted.
Evaina looked over at the large crowd, this was it. This was the moment that would change her whole life. Evaina gulped, walking ever so slowly up the old and dusty stoned steps, her feat tapping as it met with it. When she turned to face her audience, she realised she’d done something that the other ladies had lacked-she’d grabbed their attention. Was that enough?
“Welcome to the final moment of our annual royal competition. As you all know the kingdom of Arnaldo needs a new heir, over three months these ladies have been tested, analysed to see if they are fit to be a queen. We started off with twelve, and as the days progressed we now have two.” King Nathaniel began his voice strained and tired, “Now I’d all like to introduce you to your queen. Lady…”
