Athena woke up the next day with a splitting headache.
She got up and took a couple of aspirin inside the medicine cabinet and gulped it down with a glass of water.
She turned her phone on and looked at her agenda for the day.
There was one urgent email she saw which has the subject CONFIDENTIAL.
She quickly browsed through the email and she got the gist. People contact her for what she is good at and it basically is the same thing, but she was surprised at her next target. It wasn't anyone that needed killing- it was JACOB ESPADA.
She almost dropped her phone because of the shock she felt.
She suddenly felt lost and unable to explain her sudden reaction. She usually takes any job easily after a background check of course, but personally knowing who the target just shook her.
She took a bottle of cold water from the fridge and drank it to calm herself.
She felt herself trembling. Unable to think straight and what to respond to this correspondence.
Why do they need to eliminate him? she asked herself.
I don't think I could do it. I just don't see any reason why I should.
She knows even without responding yet, she won't do it. But if she does, what will they say? These people who wanted a hit - on Jacob Espada!
She went inside her room and lay down on her bed - she has to think. And fast- before they make any wrong assumptions why she would decline their assignment.
It might cost her life if she declines, but she just don't see herself to be the one ending Jacob Espada's life! Not her!
She doesn't know why she doesn't welcome that idea at all - but right now, she doesn't want to find out the reason beneath her bewilderment!
