Dedicated to the man in my life
that means everything to me and still curls my toes
and causes my breath to catch with each kiss.
I love you.

Immortal Mafia Saga: Daddy's Little Girl

If you would have asked me three weeks ago how I pictured my life ending it sure the hell wouldn't have been like this. Did I picture the Hollywood ending where I go down in a blaze of glory with guns blazing and nearly every bullet shot at me amazingly misses it mark so I can take out half of their forces? No. The Bollywood ending where everyone is dancing and singing on a subway platform spinning around with the girl in my arms as she kisses me in front of everyone? No. A wooden stake to the heart? Sure why not, it seems like a good way for a vampire to go.
The last way I envisioned to die, hell, I never envisioned this, was sitting in an abandoned warehouse with three dead bodies strung across the room and the body of a whimpering girl in my arms, a wooden stake sticking out of her chest, her blood pooling around us causing my throat to burn with hunger and desire.
Desire.
That was one way to put it. Since I first saw this girl I knew that the world I had spent so much time, energy and money making was about to be turned upside down, it was only time before it came crashing down on me.
Tears were streaming from her large green eyes, but they were vacant of life. Do I save her the only way I know how even though she doesn't want that kind of life? Can I simply sit here and watch her die? "I'm sorry," she whispered before her chest stopped rising with air.

Three weeks ago....
It was like any other Friday night. I was dressed to kill in my designer threads, most of which I wouldn't wear again, I hate wearing the same thing twice. Tonight it was a black Hugo Boss suit with a fitted gray tee underneath and black Italian shoes. My sire taught me long ago, you have to dress the part. What is the point of immortality if you aren't having fun while experiencing it? Unlike most sire to sired relationships, I like my sire, Áki, we are still close, like father and son. Áki is currently enjoying the pleasures of the Far East.
A soft knock came at my office door before Loki popped his head inside, "Hey Boss, we have a problem out here."
Great, what now? It isn't bad enough that I am trying to juggle three thriving clubs by myself, and I have to deal with all of the drama of the damn local vamp scene but now there is some type of problem that I really don't want to deal with an hour before we even open. What the hell, seriously? "What is it now?" I asked stacking into a pile the invoices covering the glass surface of my desk.
Loki bit his lip, "The band is here."
"And?"
"I think you will want to see for yourself," he said with a shrug and disappeared.
Goddamn hired help. You can't find good help anywhere these days, if Loki wasn't like the little brother I never wanted I would have fired his ass after the first day. Three years ago when I first opened this club he was supposed to be working the front of the club instead I found him in my office with some blond bent over my desk. Needless to say that desk was burned and he got a good ass kicking.
I pushed away from my desk and headed out the door and down the down the stairs to the empty club below. While I floated down the stairs I caught a strange scent, something sweet and floral but clean and refreshing. Being more than five hundred years old my senses have sharpened considerably over the centuries. Huh, that's strange. It isn't a bad scent it is just unique-I like it. When I entered the main part of the club I saw Loki sitting on the stage, legs swinging freely as he watched the band, Purged, arguing with Haust my club manager and occasional bouncer-he's a big boy.
"What is the problem?" I asked, honestly I didn't care.
Haust looked at me before motioning towards Loki on the stage. "They had to replace their bassist," he explained. Now I was really confused, Loki can't play bass. Before I could ask Richard, the lead singer, headed towards the bar to help himself to a drink and that is when I saw the problem.
Sitting on the stage next to Loki bobbing their head to whatever was playing on their mp3 player was Purged's new bassist, a human. "I see," I said more to myself than anyone else. "You know the rules," I said looking at the rest of the band.
