When I Close my Eyes...
When I close my eyes,
I see your face.
Time twirls and flies,
In my happy place.
Our heartbeats flutter,
My knees grow weak,
From three words you utter,
As you stroke my cheek.
My spine starts to tingle,
With coldness and heat.
And our breaths slowly mingle,
As our lips gently meet.
When I close my eyes,
I feel no pain.
No more tears, no more sighs,
We are blissful again.
We unite with delight,
With desire and need,
But you couldn’t fight,
Death’s cancerous greed.
And sad though it seems,
I just long to pretend,
In my hopes and my dreams,
That your life did not end.
But when I open my eyes,
Pain as sharp as a knife
And black as night skies,
Engulfs my whole life.
My chest heaves with sorrow,
As tears streak down my face,
I can’t live for tomorrow,
And so death I too embrace.
My heart beats for you only,
Though I gave life my best,
I can’t bear to be lonely,
And with you I will rest.
So I close my eyes…
