The Hero of Time

       I was breathing sloppy, deep, breaths. I was running away from evil; running away with the love of my life. I could feel my thigh muscles had enough running. My run was also getting clumsy too; I just hope I don’t trip. Grasping on her hand, she was being followed by my guide. You are probably wondering who I am and why I am in so much danger right now.

       Well, my name is Link and the love of my life is Zelda. I am protecting her from a man who has been trying to capture her for a while now. It happened only a few months ago when I was having the same nightmares every night.

 ~~~~~~3 months ago~~~~~~

I saw my twin brother, Dark Link, capture Zelda and as he ran off with her I did nothing. I just stood there and watched her escape from my view. Tears in her eyes as she was screaming for help and my name. She was looking at me and I just kept standing there. My brain was telling me to move and save her but no matter what I just couldn’t.

It hurt me to see her crying for help, its like an arrow shot through my heart, making it shatter into pieces.

The scene changed and I saw a flash of an image but I couldn't make it out. That flash keeps flickering fast and then soon it stops and lets me see that Dark Link was standing over Zelda and cackling. I looked down at Zelda and noticed that blood was spilling from her body. I ran over to her and dropped on my knees and lifted her gently by her back, afraid that she would break in half. I looked down in her eyes and saw that they were lifeless and full of fear. I felt the warm blood trickle down from my hand to my forearm. I gritted my teeth hard and looked up at my brother. "How could you?!" I screamed with a squeaky voice while tears bursted from my eyes.

I woke up, gasping, and with tears in my laying on my cheeks. Zelda was lying next to me, awake seeing that I was in tears. It was still the middle of the night.

“Link, are you okay? What happened?” she said confusion and concern.

I sat up a little and grabbed her and hugged her, as I was hugging Zelda I was crying.

“Link.” She said as she was rubbing the back of my head. I started crying more at the thought of her dying. Why was this dream the same every night since a few days ago? Why is this happening to me? I swallowed hard so the tears wouldn't come pouring down.

“Zelda.” I whispered.

“Yes Link?” she whispered back.

“I love you so much.” I said as I hugged her tighter.

“I love you too Link, but what happened? Why did you awake with tears?”

I let go and looked down at her. Her eyes had so much concern in them.

“I had the same dream again. I just don’t want him to…” I trailed off. Zelda sighed with worry and put her hand on my cheek. I held her soft, loving hand; she was so beautiful. She started to rub her thumb softly over my lips.

“He is not going to hurt us Link, it’s just a dream. Now you need to rest.”

I looked at her with grateful eyes, she always calmed me down. It's like she always knew what to say to me when I was angry or sad, or even happy.

“I just don’t like the thought of you dying. It’s so painful, I just want these dreams to stop.” I whimpered. Zelda now held my face and kissed my lips softly. The warmth of her was so great that I warmed up with her. “I’m here Link, I will always be here.” Then she put her arms around me.

“Don’t let me go.” I said as I closed my eyes.

“Never.” She started to rub the back of my head and I hugged her waist. She nuzzled her head into my chest that was covered with my white shirt and we fell asleep like this and soon my nightmare returned.

I awoke and saw that it was morning out. I smiled and placed my palm over my face. I could see through the cracks of my fingers. It was nice that I slept the rest of the night.

I looked out to the left by the balcony covered with rose vines and saw Zelda’s back to me. She was looking down at something. After Midna left three years ago, Zelda and I both decided to live at Hyrule Castle. I got up from the bed quietly and tip-toed over by the balcony.

Zelda was dressed in her dark blue robe and she looked beautiful with it flowing all around her.

I quickly put my arms around her waist and pulled her in to me fast. It startled her at first but then she realized that it was my arms that were holding her. She giggled a little and turned her head to look up, she smiled at me.
