Part 7 of 12
Chapter 15: Who says that ballerina's can't love cars?
*
I slept on the couch with Sasha, who had apparently joined me, while Oliver and Belle made dinner.
"Ally... Come on, dinner's ready. Are you awake?" Josie asked in her cute sing-a-song voice, whilst shoving my shoulder lightly.
Normally I am not easy to wake up. Not easy at all. But I've been sleeping lightly since Alex...
"Yeah, I'm up." I said and sat up quickly pulling her to the couch, tickling her.
Her thrilling kid laughter filled the room and made me laugh along.
"Come on girls. No one enjoys cold dinner." Belle said as she popped her head out the door from the kitchen.
Josie wiggled out of my grip, sticking her tongue out at me before elegantly, on light feet, running to the dining room.
I smiled and followed.
Belle had taken Sasha from my side and sat her in her seat, and Oliver was talking to André.
Belle started pouring food on the kids' plates as Oliver started a conversation with me.
"So, this Sunday we are all going to Caylen and Aaron's. You too Ally, you will love them." Oliver said and gave me a trying smile.
"Okay, I will come." I said and smiled back at him.
Belle, who had obviously listened to the exchange of words, exhaled relieved and smiled a heartwarming smile.
She is starting to believe that I am going to be okay.
We all ate and talked and smiled as Sasha hummed while chewing happily on a potato.
God that kid is beautiful.
"Ally, I want to ask you a favor. You can just say no." Belle said.
"Okay, what is it?" I asked and smiled.
"Would you mind driving Josie to school? I know that it is a long drive, but I have to get to work early and I don't want Josie to wait at school for two hours, where André and Sasha can just be dropped off early by me." She said kinda hurrying through the question.
"Sure. But could I borrow a car? Because I don't have one." I say and smile at Josie.
I am kinda happy that they trust me so much, that they dare leave their daughter for me to care for.
"Well, we kinda bought you one. Nothing fancy, like a birthday in advance." Belle said and smiled at Oliver who was looking at me, beaming.
"You bought me a car you guys actually bought me, me, me, a car?! A car... A car, with a steering wheel and an engine and tires."
Oliver and Belle laughed at my babbling as I continued to murmur to myself.
"Yeah, that is how you normally would describe a car. But it isn't a fancy car, we are just sure that it can drive and that it has seatbelts." Oliver said and smiled at my perplexed facial expression.
They BOUGHT me a CAR!
But... I can't drive... can I?
Sure I have a driver's license and I have been in a car since the accident, but not where I was the one in control. The responsible one.
Get over it, of course you can drive.
"Thank you guys. I love you." Was all I managed to croak out.
"We love you too." Belle said and hugged me with one arm, because she was holding Sasha in her other one.
I hugged her back.
"We can go look at the car after dinner," Oliver said and shoved another bite of food into his mouth, while making 'Mmmm' noises. Belle can really cook.
We finished dinner and put the dirty dishes in the dish-washer.
And then Oliver took my hand and Belle took Sasha and we all went to check out my new car.
We stepped out the front door as the streetlights began to light up.
I looked towards the garage and Oliver pressed the open button.
The wall slid up under the ceiling and I stepped in. it smelled like car. A mix of fuel and metal. It smelled good.
Always loved the smell.
Sure, I dance ballet, but that doesn't mean that I go around being afraid of breaking a nail.
Alex and I actually took courses in how to fix cars and engines.
We Aced them all, it was so much fun watching the human boys gawk at us and making mistakes all the time.
Then I saw the car, and it was kinda like love at first sight. It was black and was the average size.
Around the windows was a thin pink line, you know, following the lines of the car. The windows were normal and the car was dusty. It was an old car - that's for sure. And I would bet a lot of money that it was Belle who had painted the pink lines.
But I loved it. It just needed a thorough wash and a quick vacuum.
I know that they could have bought me a brand new car, with all the latest inventory and radios and tinted windows. But I loved this car, and I would not trade it for anything.
