Chapter 13
I was still awake. I had been lying on my bed consciously dreading the moment I found out. Who had done it to me? How could they? I had trusted all three of them, and one of them had well and truly let me down. Amelia, my best friend? Ashley, the guy who claimed to love me, and who I only thought of as a very close friend? Or...or Jay? The boy who accidently walked into my life and changed it in a way I thought a boy never could. I needed answers, and I needed them now. There was only one way to find out, for sure. I knocked at the door and waited. Why the hell was I here?? I didn't want to be here! The door opened and I finished the mental argument against myself. I let out a sigh of relief when SHE didn't open the door. But someone who looked an awful lot like her did. The woman had orange fake tanned skin, platinum blonde hair and a face full of Botox. I knew in an instant I hadn't gotten the wrong house. Yeh I agree it was just a little too obvious, the likeness between the two, well... it was too hard to put into words. 'Hey huni how can I help ya?' she tried to smile, but didn't get very far. Botox. 'Errm...Well I was looking for Selena, I know her from school?' I stammered a little but I think she understood the so called words coming out of my mouth. 'Ahh... your Selena's friend, she has so many she forgets to tell me all their names!' She boasted. Typical, like mother like daughter. 'Yeh...you could say we were friends.' I tried to appear confident. But I could have swore, that if she could, her eyebrows would have raised halfway up her forehead. Before the woman had a chance to open her mouth Selena appeared at the door. She eyed me and her smile flipped into a frown. 'WHAT-' she began, only to be interrupted... 'Your little friend here wanted to see ya, it's wastin' time her just standing out in the cold, why don't ya come inside huni?' I had been saved from Selena's up coming hissy fit. Odd thing was, it was her own mum who saved me from it. How strange! The orange woman gestured to the hallway and I unwillingly stepped inside. Inside the house was not what I thought it would be like. Not at all what I thought it would be like. The dark wood Victorian floor covered the entire length of the long hallway, the panes of wood sleekly polished. The walls were a soft cream with old pictures of the town hung in random places. The old spiral staircase was another shock to my now, very confused system. It was made from iron and very elegant for even the richest of people. As I followed Selena's mother (whose name I still didn't know), my head was slowly reaching aching point... How on earth did they have a house like this? I was expecting playboy wallpaper and pink fluffy rugs that stunk of pee from the 10 Chihuahuas that roamed it. It had to be the father. The mother and daughter would never decorate their house like this; it was plain to see by just looking at them. We finally reached the end of the hallway and Selena's mother turned around. 'So you can just head up on up to your room Sel, you don't want me in your way, have fun girls and if yall need anything call me.' She grinned her artificially whitened teeth, but like before didn't get very far, and disappeared into what I assumed was the kitchen. Selena scowled at me, and I had to give it to her it, it was her filthiest one yet. 'What the hell are you doing in my house you slut?' She hissed at me, careful not to raise suspicion by yelling at me. 'I, um... Just wanted to a-ask you something.' I knew stuttering would make me the weak one but I couldn't control myself. I was overwhelmed. The house, the mother and mostly the fact I'd gotten enough courage to come. 'Spit it out then!' She was up in my face now, and I was feeling quite intimidated. Don't let her get to you Em, I thought to myself. 'Who told you I might be moving back to England?' A moment of confidence over took me and I looked her straight in the eye. She smirked looking very, very pleased with herself. 'Oh, so you didn't figure out then? How stupid are you?' The smirk stayed. 'I don't want to play games Selena. Just tell me' the confidence was fading by the second. 'You should really pick friends more carefully you know, they're not always as... loyal, as you think.' 'Tell me.' She was irritating me and I didn't try to cover that up. Why couldn't she tell me without playing games! Messing with my head, messing with my friends and messing up my life! Just games to her. She looked at me almost... triumphant. 'Your so called friend Amelia.' She sneered and laughed then pushed me down the hallway and out the door. Amelia, my best friend? {Please comment! + if you like plz vote :]! Thanks for reading x}
