Jason's POV
"Cool!" Was all she said. "So, didn't you say your friend's name was Belle? I have a neighbor named Belle Jones. Is that by chance her?" I said. Of course, I knew it was her. She had moved to Denver for a reason. As long as Aimee was in Denver, Belle was going to act as her protector. She needed someone to shield her from all the malicious vampires and other supposedly "mythical" creatures. Aimee's POV We talked for most of the plane ride and ok, I'll admit, we even flirted a little. He was really cool and really funny. He had the most ah-dor-able dimples when he laughed. I found out a lot about him. He didn't have a girlfriend, he was on the football team (he said he was the quarterback, I think). I told him I didn't know anything about sports and he laughed and told me he could teach me sometime. I happily agreed. I also found out he and Belle went to Jefferson High School and were good friends. I wonder why Belle had never mentioned him? As I got off the plane, I looked for Belle and turned on my cell phone to call her. Suddenly, my phone said "New Message." I looked at it and it said, "Jason's bringing u 2 my houes. He nose. Sry 4 l8 notise! J" Her and her misspellings. I rolled my eyes and turned and was startled to find that Jason was standing right behind me. I looked accusingly at him. "You knew about this the whole time, didn't you?" I accused. He shrugged sheepishly and looked at the ground. He looked back up at me and said, "I didn't think you'd mind since we were talking so animatedly on the plane. I was actually looking forward to driving you to Belle's house." His voice turned quiet towards the end of his sentence. I looked up from pouting at the floor. "You were?" I asked in disbelief. "I mean, I don't mind the car ride so much. What I hate is that she didn't warn me before hand." He smirked. Why did she not tell me before hand? OH, well...I got to ride in a car with a hot, sweet, sensitive guy who I would be seeing for most of the summer. Why was I complaining? Maybe it had to do with the fact that I didn't have much experience with guys. * * * We finally arrived at Belle's house. He leaned in as if he were going to kiss me, but instead whispered "Good night" in my ear. His cool, seductive breath sent chills down my spine. I knew he could sense it because he was smiling when he pulled away. Just then, Belle ran out of her house. I got out of the car slowly and was lucky that I was still holding on to the door handle, or else I would have fallen over when she ran to hug me. "Aimee!" She squealed, "I'm sooo glad you're here!" "I know! I'm so excited to spend the whole summer with you! Seriously! You didn't even tell me you lived on a farm!" Just then, Jason left. He waved bye to us and we waved back. "Oh my gosh! I want you to see my room!" Belle said and dragged me inside. When she said she had a cool room, I believed her, but I never imagined it was so big! She shared her basement bedroom with her 15 year old sister, Jessi. Their room was made for entertainment. It had a pool table, hu-uge flat screen TV, air-hockey table and lotsa bean bags and other stuff. I was in awe. "So tell me, what do you think of Jason." She asked, innocently. "He's nice," I looked at the floor and went to sit on a bean bag. I traced imaginary patterns with my eyes. Belle had the eyes and senses of a hawk. Plus, she knew me like the back of her hand. "You like him, don't you?" I just stared at the floor. "You do!" "Well..." "Aimee, if anyone could get him, it's you! I've known you forever. You have never had a boyfriend. He'd be the perfect boyfriend! I don't have a crush on him, if that's what you're worried about. He has only had one other girlfriend, but um...he doesn't like to talk about that" "In case you haven't noticed, I'm not the best at flirting with guys." I bit my lip. "Don't worry. The master will teach you." "And who would that be?" She pouted, "Me silly!" "Uh, sure yea," I said sarcastically. "You will be sorry tomorrow! I don't feel like doing anything right now. Let's just hang around the house." Belle yawned. So that's how the day went. We watched movies, had a pillow fight, and practically killed each other over a bag of Doritos, which we accidentally stepped on in the process. Poor Doritos. We stayed up 'til 3 in the morning. I woke up to the sound of whispering. "I heard them. They were outside. They were --- they were stronger and they knew she was here. I mean I expected them to come, but I didn't expect it so soon." I recognized Belle's voice, she sounded worried. "This changes things. We are gonna have to be more prepared... They could choose to attack at any time. She has to be protected. Belle--" Jason was here, too? Did I miss something? I yawned. "What's going on?" I asked from my makeshift "bed" on Belle's bedroom floor. I walked into the kitchen. Jason and Belle just looked at me and then back at each other. "Nothing. Jason just came over to eat breakfast and he wanted to hang out with us today." Belle smiled---and was it just me or did her smile look...forced?
