Fallon:

“I can’t believe you invited Daphne to your wedding,” Fallon marveled.

Angelica smiled at her. “I can’t believe she showed up,” she said before her expression suddenly sobered. “You don’t think she’s here just to jump in at that part about anyone objecting now or forever holding their peace, do you?”

“Don’t worry. We’ll beat her over the head with your bouquet if she tries it.”

“We will not,” Angelica said, though she laughed. “These flowers cost a lot of money you know.”

“Okay, then we’ll just banish her to limbo until the ceremony is over.”

            “You can do that?”

Fallon pretended to be offended. “I’m not even going to dignify that with a response.”

Angelica laughed again. “Thank you so much for being here, Fallon. I know this wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for you.”

“Actually, you wouldn’t be here if Lucian hadn’t asked you to come help me with Marshall. You’ll have to thank him.”

            “I will.”

There was a knock on the door.

“It’s open,” Angelica called, and Wyatt entered.

“It’s almost time to start,” Wyatt said.

Angelica turned her beaming smile on him. “Thanks for giving me away even though you’re not my brother anymore.”

“Thanks for letting me even though I’m not your brother anymore,” Wyatt said.

“All right, enough of this mushy stuff,” Fallon joked. “We’ve got a wedding to get to.”

“It’s not like they can start without me,” Angelica pointed out.

“Does that mean you’re not ready yet?” Wyatt asked.

Angelica’s smile turned wistful. “I’ve been ready for this from the moment I first laid eyes on Seth and realized maybe evil wasn’t so bad after all.”

This time it was Fallon’s turn to laugh, but Angelica was right. For true love, even the most pure heart could be convinced to embrace the darkness lurking inside. It’s what Fallon did when she was just fifteen years old and Lucian Locke told her he was the son of Satan. Despite the ups and downs of the last ten years, she didn’t regret her decision.

Ten years, Fallon thought and shook her head.

Ten years ago, if someone told her Wyatt would be her brother in law and she’d be the matron of honor at the wedding of Angelica Rhodes, she would have told them not even divine intervention could pull off that miracle. Ten years ago, she would have been wrong. Now that the moment was upon them, Fallon had never been happier to be wrong.

Everything was just as it was supposed to be; at least for now.
