Dawson no longer felt as fiercly about Annabelle as he had before. Now she was just...there. There asking for rides on him as if he were a horse or some other creature lacking the intelligence. Some time Dawson wanted to drop her and say it was an accident. Dawson saw Blake's memories, saw his want for Sam to be like him. Dawson wouldn't have it. Dawson wanted Sam to be like himself, like a fox. He hadn't ever felt it for Annabel. Dawson felt a strange pull towards Sam. As if they were meant to be. He stared intently at Sam. Blake shared his pain with Sam. Sam hugged him. Dawson wanted to be with Sam, be hugged like that by Sam. Sam whispered something.
"I wish I could help," she almost cried. Dawson closed his eyes, controlling the urge to take Sam and run away. Blake's thoughts said there was only one way. Sam listened. 'I want you to be with me forever. Be a wolf, like me,' they pleaded. Sam paused. "Forever?" she whispered. The thoughts said yes. Sam was silent. Dawson wanted to hear her thoughts. He wanted to blow his cover and totally comfort her. Dawson wanted to tell Sam that if se didn't want to she didn't have to, and whatever she chose he would be happy. Dawson didn't want to take away her life. Make her uncontrollably angry or sad. Happiness, though, was a good thing. It was so strong, in fact, that it was worth all the pain and anger. Most abnormal creature shifters seemed much happier than normal humans. Dawson felt Blake notice he was watching. Blake turned. Dawson thought fiercly: 'I should go give Annabelle her daily run through the forest so she can learn it better.' Blake nodded in his direction. Dawson quickly turned. He didn't want a fight. He was too tired and hungry. Dawson sped to his home. A corner before his home he shifted and sprinted home. Dawson opened the front door and it slammed behind him. Dawson had no school tomorrow. He had to run all day and night as a ceremony. He did this about every month. It also made his fox so tired the fox couldn't mutiply his feelings. He hated being so in love, when it was really just a crush. But that was his destiny, so Dawson always shrugged it off. With Sam his feelings were totally different than Annabelle's. Sam's was more....authentic. Dawson sat down at the dinner table. He was all ruffled up and messy. "Dawson! Go clean up before you sit at my table!" his mom almost yelled. Dawson looked down and sighed. "Yes'm," he murmered and got up. Dawson trudged up the stairs, making his mother feel really bad about herself, but when he reached his room, he instantly turned up some music. Dawson flopped onto his bed and stared at the ceiling. Dawson felt the urge to draw Sam. Draw her with him. But Charlie, Dawson's younger brother that was still older than Chris, had that power. Whatever Charlie drew came true. Charlie never abused his power, and didn't like it as much because he couldn't draw whatever he liked. Or write. Dawson didn't like his power much, either, because it was not very cool. It did earn him a spot on the football and lacrosse team, though. Dawson heard his mom calling from downstairs. "Hurry up, and get Charlie!" she yelled. Dawson sighed and rolled off his bed. He used super speed and washed his face and brushed his hair. He ran to Charlie's room and knocked on the door. "Hey, Char Char, dinner time!" Dawson said. Charlie got up from his desk and followed Dawson down the stairs. Dawson was extra nice to Charlie during dinner, which made Charlie really puzzled. Dawson acted like he didn't notice and that it was perfectly normal. Dawson was in 11th grade. Charlie was in 10th grade. Chris was in 9th grade. Dawson had an older brother, Mark, who was in 12th grade, and another brother, Forrest, who was a freshman in college. Chris had brothers all the way through to second grade. He had 11brothers total, and they lived in about three houses. In second grade there was Will. In third grade there was Samuel. in fourth grade there was George. In fifth grade there was Mitchel. In sixth grade there was Jordan. In seventh grade there were the twins, Danny and Jake. In eight grade there was Paul. Paul had a girl twin, Shirley. As you can see, the parents were pretty...active. Dawson's mother most likely had a baby a few years back. They did it because they loved each other and wanted to create the biggest family, as well as the most powerful. Dawson had to write down who had what powers and which family unti they were currently in. Here is Dawson's list:
