Chapter One: Summertime Madness

I had a hard life. I had been through a lot. After moving to Chicago for high school, someone who I thought was a nice and shy person turned out to be a psychotic and crazy killer. But that was in the past. I had graduated from high school and moved as far away as I could to go to college.

“We’re almost there.” Gage stated.

Gage climbed into the driver’s seat of the golf cart. I smiled as I looked over at my boyfriend. We were now in California on the set of a movie. My movie. Well sort of. After the incident with Jamanj, several reporters and agents called me and asked if I wanted to do a movie about my life. I turned them down but Avian had decided that she would help direct a movie about our run in with Jamanj. Gage and I came to visit to see how things were going.

“You’re going to be a star.” Gage told me.

“No I’m not.” I giggled.

“This movie is about you.”

“But I’m not going to be in the movie. An actress is playing me.”

Avian had also helped cast characters to play us. It was going to be the first time I would meet these actors. I didn’t know what to expect. Avian and I weren’t exactly friends and she could have easily picked any random person off of the street to play me. I didn’t trust her to portray me accurately in the movie.

“Liliana we are going to meet the actresses. Give them some tips and guidance.”

I nodded.

What advice could I possibly give an actress playing me? The fear I felt was not something that you could fake. It was not something that an actress could understand by me just explaining it to her. It was something you had to live. It was something you had to have happen to you.

“I don’t think I will be of much help.” I sighed.

Gage pulled the golf cart to a screeching halt. I jerked forward in the cart and felt my heart skip a beat. Why had we stopped? Avian stood in front of the golf cart with a red stop sign in her hand. She had a smile on her face as she looked from me to Gage.

“What the hell!” I shouted. “You could’ve killed us.”

“You’re so dramatic.” She rolled her eyes.

“You really shouldn’t just jump in front of people like that. We could’ve hit you.”

“You’d like that wouldn’t you? To see me hurt so you could take over.”

“No. I don’t care about being in charge of this stupid movie.”

“Stupid? Well it is about your life so I guess it is pretty stupid.”
