Finally. I sighed and pulled the blanket closer to my face. We have just passed the Welcome to Pittsburgh sign and I couldn't wait to get out of this forsaken truck. Chance has become a bother. Boring his eyes into me every chance he gets. To be quite frank, his scrutiny was getting on my last nerve. It may be because I haven't had male attention in a long time. Male attention ceased to exist the day after I lost my virginity at that party. I can't even remember who was hosting it.
I started to hear Sick by Just Kait play from somewhere. That's weird. Isn't that my ringtone? I pondered this silently.

"Um, Addaline, is that your phone?" Chance asked.

"Oh, yeah. It is." I said while blushing.

"Well, aren't you going to answer it?"

I hurriedly grabbed my purse and searched for my phone. Finding it I answered with a "Hello."

"Hi, Honey. Are you there yet?"

"Hi, Mom. No we're not there yet. We just drove past the Welcome to Pittsburgh sign, so I guess we're not that far."

"Thirty minutes." Chance interrupted.

"We're a half hour away, Mom." I sent a glare towards Chance who just shrugged nonchalantly.

"I'll call you back later, Mom."

"Ok. Be careful. I hope that man is keeping his hands to himself."

"Trust me. I wouldn't be interested in you." Chance interjected.

"Mom, he is. Seriously, I have to go. I'll talk to you later."

"Ok, bye Honey."

I snapped my phone shut and stared angrily out the window. He didn't have to say that. Especially when my Mother could hear him. I know I'm not attractive to men like him, but he could have at least been considerate enough to keep his thoughts to himself. Just because he can get anyone he wants doesn't mean that he can be down right rude to me. I'm not a size zero or even a 12 but I still have feelings. And those feelings don't deserve to be hurt by an over-confident, cocky, egotistical jerk.

A Denny's restaurant flew by the window. I figured this was the one that my Dad set up the interview for. One thing he taught me was to work in a place that is within walking distance incase something happens to your car. If he stuck to this principle of his, then my apartment couldn't be too far. I guessed correctly because about five minutes later we pulled into an apartment complex. It was red and each apartment had a balcony. It was a pretty big complex. It was in a U shape with a fountain located in the center. Not bad, Dad not bad at all.

"We are here!" Chance exclaimed.

Ellen clapped her hands excitedly. At least someone is ready to start over. He had parked in front of the entrance making it easy to unload my things. I opened the door and got out. It felt so good to be on solid ground. I stretched my arms over my head. I hadn't noticed my shirt had risen until I heard:

"Addaline put your arms down. Some of your chub is hanging out."

I looked down and he was right. I quickly finished my stretch and pulled my shirt back down.

"Let's just go find my apartment." My Dad had given me all the information before I left.

"The room number is F36." I stated.

"Ok then lets go." he replied.

I hoisted my bags onto my shoulder, unbuckled Ellen's car seat and followed Chance into the building. The elevator was straight ahead. There are apartment doors on either side with A-insert number here on the doors. If F is the last floor and there are 5 stories, this means that I'm on the top floor. Figures. Put the fat girl on the top floor.

"Adds, come on. I can't hold this elevator all day." Chance called. I hadn't realized I had stopped. I silently yelled insults at my Dad in my head. He had done this purposely. Maybe it's his way of saying you need exercise. Well, newsflash Dad I am quite aware.

"Did you just call me Adds?" I asked him upon entering the elevator.

"Yeah, Addaline is too long to say all the time."

"Its three syllables"

"Yeah, it is. But I'm a one syllable kind of guy."

"Fine. Call me anything you want." He began to open his mouth. "Except for anything derogatory." I added quickly. He closed his mouth in a huff.

The doors dinged open. We walked out and turned right.

"F33, F34, and F35" I mumbled quietly to myself. "F36, we're here!" I exclaimed with a little too much enthusiasm.
