Althea’s POV

I finished my project and decided to read my favorite book. However, my mind kept drifting off. To be honest, I thought he was going to be nice. He probably thinks I’m a spoiled brat. That man is never going to get married if he thinks yelling solves problems. I get that he’s probably tired but I’m tired too, he’s not the only one who has a job everyday just so they could go to college. I know we’re rich and I don’t even have to work but I don’t want to rely on my parents for the rest of my life. They’re not going to be here forever. I walked towards my piano and started practicing.

I was playing when Dad came in.

“I believe you are ready Princess, I’m so proud of you.” He was walking towards me when I stopped him.

“When are you going back to work?”

“In a week, can we please spend time together as a family?”

“We never were. Please Mr.Jones, just go back to work, we don’t need you here.”

“Princess, please, tell me, anything, what do you want me to do for you to forgive me?”

“Nothing, I can’t, you ruined this family. Just go back to your mistress.”

“Princess, I would never cheat on your mom. I love both of you so much.”

“Then why do you never have time for us?”

“I’m sorry. Our business was at its downfall and I had to focus on a lot of things to get it back on track. Trust me princess, I don’t have an affair.”

“How come you never told us? I’m sure mom could’ve helped you.”

“I didn’t want to disturb your mom, she’s tired from the meetings at work.”

“But we’re a family, we’re suppose to help each other.”

“I know Princess, I’m sorry.”

“I’m sorry for being narrow-minded. I love you.”

“I love you so much princess.”I walked towards him and hugged him.I heard the door creak open.

“Aww, looks like we’re all okay now.”

“Yes we are, now let’s go.” Dad said.

“Huh?” Mom and I asked giving him a perplexed look.

“Let’s go, I have something planned.”

“For us to catch up. I miss my Queen and Princess. ”He wrapped his arms around mom’s waist and kissed her cheek.

“Eww,no PDA please.”I told them covering my eyes.

“Right, sorry.” Mom hit Dad’s chest and mumbled something. I shook my head and pushed them slightly towards the door.

“Alright, get out ,I need to sleep.”

“But, Princess, we’re going somewhere, let’s go.”

“Right. I’ll be down in 10.”I completely closed the door and took a shower.

We left for dinner at 6.

“When’s school over princess?”

“Dad, don’t call me princess in public. It’s embarrassing.”

“No matter how old you are, you’ll still be my princess.”

“Fine. Guys, I might move out a little later than planned.”

“Princess, how much do you need for college?”

“No need dad, I can handle it.”

“But we have enough money to send you to college. In fact, we have more than enough.”

“You can save it for your retirement.”

“Princess, we didn’t work this hard for the company for our retirement, it’s for your future, at least let us help you.”

“No dad, let me do this on my own. I need to be independent.”

“Can we at least for the room you’ll stay in? Can you please quit one of your jobs? We have an opening in the company. General Manager.”

“Dad, no. I’m not ready to manage the business. I’ll wait until I finish college. I can’t quit my job, I need money to go to college.”

“But we have that money, I’ll tell you what, I’ll put money in your bank account today. How much do you need?”

“Princess, come on, it’s the least I can do.”

“Trust me please, I can do this by myself.” He sighed.

“Alright, but if you need anything, just tell us. Please don’t stress yourself.” I nodded and we continued eating. Talking just about anything.

“I was thinking of getting you a new car…”

“Dad, I don’t need one.”

“But you bought that for yourself and I just don’t feel like it’s right for you.” He checked something on his phone and smiled.
