I woke up to see blinding, bright lights shining throughout the room. I squeezed my eyes back shut, groaning. I laid still on the soft bed. I could feel my body aching, but luckily, it wasn't burning anymore, except on my leg. I could hear a machine beeping and people breathing. I felt hotter than usual, and I felt a bead of sweat sliding down my back. The poison must be causing me to have a fever. My mouth was so dry that my tongue felt like it had inflated. There was a rag set on my forehead, but it wasn't helping much anymore so I slow raised my aching arm to pull it off.

"Lizzy," his voice hurt my ears even though it was barely above a whisper. I assumed it was because I hadn't heard anything since I'd woken up.

I slowly opened my eyes and stared up into his brown-flecked, green ones. His face was scrunched in concern, but I noticed the relief in his worrisome eyes. I tried to smiled with my chapped lips, but I'm not sure what I did. He sighed and reached up to lightly stroke my face. I opened my mouth to speak, but I couldn't.

"Don't talk out loud." He whispered as he took one of my hands in both of his. He kissed it and smiled softly down at me.

'How are you?' I asked.

He chuckled and shook his head. 'I'm fine. Don't worry about me. How are you?'

'My body aches, my leg is killing me, and I think I feel a headache coming on.' I decided to be honesty. There was no need to lie to him.

'Dr. Wrine says your fever should be gone in a few days. You were having hallucinations, and you were screaming for three days.' His voice showed the agony he had felt.

I brought my free hand up and cupped his face. 'I'm fine, now. What else did she say?'

'You'll be sore for a few days. We got you here before the wolf's bane could settle in too bad,' he leaned into my touch and rubbed my arm. 'You were out for almost a whole week. Everyone's worried.'

'A week? Wow.' I frowned. 'How is everyone?'

'They're good, just waiting for you.'

I sighed and closed my eyes. 'When can I leave?'

'Dr. Wrine says whenever you want as long as you don't push it.' He answered.

I nodded. 'How are the kids?'

He shrugged. 'They're wondering when you're gonna wake up. They just want to see you with your eyes open. They miss you. We all do.'

I smiled and pulled him down toward me. I gently pecked his lips hoping to comfort him because I could tell he was still worried. 'I'm sorry I yelled at you that day. I was just-'

'Lizseth, it's fine.' He shook his head and frowned at me as he played with my fingers. 'You were right. This is your pack, too and you have just as much a right to make commands as I do, and I need to keep that in mind.'

I was about to reply when the door opened. I watched Onyx as he stood in the doorway staring at me. "Hey," he said. "You're awake."

I smiled, not being able to reply. Onyx cleared his throat as he glanced at Kimo. "I, uh, just wanted to say goodbye before I left. I already said my goodbyes to everyone else."

"I'll leave you two... alone." Kimo said before kissing my head and leaving the room.

Onyx was frozen in place, just staring at me. I didn't really know what to say, not that I could say anything anyways, but I gestured for him to sit in the chair next to me. He hesitantly made his way over to sit. He looked nervous and also relieved.

"I was worried about you." He said glancing up at me from his lap. I smiled reassuringly and pointed at my throat. He nodded understandingly and continued, "I thought you were going to die when we found you last week. I was freaking out on the inside. I really wanna apologize for everything that has happened since I got here-" He cut himself off as I reached over to touch his arm. I shook my head at him hoping he understood that it wasn't his fault. He had no idea what was going to happen with his crazy ex-girlfriend. "I still feel responsible for it though. She came after you and the kids because of me. I just... I'm sorry. I love you with all my heart, and I would never want to hurt you like that. I hope you're happy with your life. Take care of yourself. I'll be back to visit on birthdays and holidays, you know, whatever. I'll see you then."

He got up to leave, and I laughed inwardly. I looked over to the stand next to me and picked up a spoon. I looked over to him and chucked it at his head. He clutched his head and turned to me, surprised. "What was that for?" I rolled my eyes and waved him over. He walked over still surprised, and I lifted my arms and pulled him down to me. I hugged him tight, hoping he would know I didn't blame him for anything and that all was forgiven. After his shock left, he slowly hugged me back. "Friends?" He asked. I smiled and nodded. He pulled back and smiled, too. Before he left, he kissed my cheek and said thank you, but I had no idea why.

After he left, I laid back and thought about how perfect everything was now.
