Chapter 6 – Confusion
Bridget: spencer, y r u dating summer?
Spencer: um… idk how to say this but i… like her
Bridget: no u dont
Spencer: yes i do… but can we stil be friends?
Bridget: while your dating that girl dog?
Spencer: can we talk l8r? my class is starting. see ya
Bridget: fine. ttyl
I ended my chat box with Spencer and jumped on my bed, confused and mad. Spencer had always been distant from Summer from the times I had seen them together. When did they start dating? I had started developing feelings for him – though I denied it - and then he had to surprise me by dating my enemy?
“Hey!” Sidney sauntered in with her brown hair tied in a ponytail.
“Hi! Are you ready?” I asked her.
“Yes.” She answered dramatically. “I am ready to face any dangers, fight any battles, -”
“Shut up, Sidney.” I interrupted.
She frowned at me and replied, “Geez.”
I waved her over to the bathroom and handed her the pack of hair dye. “Do you know what to do?”
“I’ve seen my mom do this a million times on my dad.” She answered.
“On your dad?” I asked.
“He wants her to dye the white strands of his hair brown.” Sidney answered simply. “But this time, we’ll just be doing this,” she poured half a packet of powder in a shampoo bottle and shook it around a few times.
“That?” I pointed to the bottle.
“Yes. So when she takes a shower, it’ll just dye itself!”
“Yeah, but won’t the water wash it off?” I asked, stating the obvious.
“Oh, right,” she stood there thinking for awhile, then exclaimed, “I know! We’ll put the dye in the water! I know where the dorm’s water supply is. Come one!” she led me to the sink cupboards and opened them. Inside was a huge pipe that connected to the shower and toilet. “Just make sure you don’t take a shower in this water,” Sidney told me as she poured the rest of the powder in the water. “You can shower in my dorm. My roommate is hardly around anyway.”
“Okay, good.” I rubbed my hands together and replied, “Thanks for letting me use the shower.”
“No problem,” she smiled, “Good luck!” and she left.
Just as Sidney left, Summer stormed in, mud on her face and clothes, her hair in muddy tangles. “Get out of my way,” she pushed me to the side and entered the showers.
“What happened?” I asked, laughing.
“I was pushed into the muddy field in P.E. where were you? Did you skip class again?” she sneered.
“No, I was studying.” I lied.
“Bridget Collins, studying. That will definitely make the newspapers. You expect me to believe that?” she retorted.
“Will you just take your stupid shower, now?” I asked, annoyed.
“Whatever.” I heard her turn on the shower as she put on the shampoo. I stood still holding my breath, waiting to hear that scream as she discovered her hair was purple. Let’s see, one… two… three.
“AHH! MY HAIR!” she screamed. Perfect timing, I said to myself. I grinned and opened the door to find a purple-headed sixteen year old with blue eyes glaring at me hatefully, “BRIDGET!” she screamed. She lunged at me and before I could move, she landed on top of me and threw a punch at my face. I quickly dodged it and stood up. I watched her secure the towel around her torso as I lured her outside and hurriedly locked the door.
*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*
Summer banged against the door with her fist. Grabbing the dorm wall phone, I dialed Paige’s dorm number and waited as it rang.
