"This couldn't get any more cliché than it is..." Venom dryly murmured, wiping the chocolate cream off his cheek. Klaus, holding the bowl that contained the leftover cream, smiled in a guilty manner, but nonetheless smudged him once again, this time on the nose.

"You'll stain the suit." Venom huffed.

Klaus laughed at that and approached his lover, sneaking his free arm around his waist. "You know I always save every single drop..." he said knowingly, proving his point by licking the drop of chocolate that was just about to fall off the villain's jaw.

Venom hummed, eyeing the bowl Klaus was still holding, and ran a finger along its edges before sliding it on his own lips. The ex-hero chuckled and moved his tongue to the sweet, indeed sweet mouth of Venom's and sighed as he felt his lover's back arch longingly.

And so, they lost themselves into each other, their make out session distracting them from the cake currently burning. And just like the year before, it turned out to be a failure, and Klaus blamed Venom for it, who in turn shrugged nonchalantly.

It wasn't a big problem, for the cake was but a formality. The actual birthday celebration consisted of the three men drinking wine and listening to Alexander's favourite bands. The cake's only purpose was to hold the candles Alex blew in one try after making a wish kept under secret.

And so, that evening, they sat in the kitchen and drank, Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box" playing in the background. Two bottles of Romanian wine stood empty on the round table, a third one about to join the others' fate. Alexander loosened from his closed up self, and freely chatted with the couple, a hint of a rare smile forever on his lips as he spoke of the progresses his computer showed ever since given the new processor.

"Speaking of which," he remembered. "How'd you get it?" he asked with a smirk, knowing too well their ways.

"Well." Venom began, tilting his head as he poured himself more wine. "Same old same old. And let me tell you, the man had horrible taste. His suit was Autumn edition... As in, hadn't Summer passed by his freakishly clean windows yet?".

Alex scoffed and took a sip from his glass, not missing the glint in Klaus's eyes, despite them being almost hidden by his dark hair. The ex-hero leaned on the table intrigued, and then asked, "What about your murder?".

"I take it you saw the news?" Alexander asked, having noticed he was being more pushy about it than the last time he questioned it. Venom nodded, placing his head on his hands.

"You had been really... violent..." he said, the last word rolling off his tongue as delicately and sensually as one would pronounce 'violet' or 'violin'. And Alexander let the word sink in, just the way he'd let the smell of a violet and the notes of a violin sink in, and chuckled.

"I guess it runs in the family."

Venom smiled an honest smile, and raised his glass gracefully. "Cheers to that."

Later that night, Venom lay awake in his bed, the top of his fingers tingling irritatingly. A possible piano melody kept swimming about his head, and every part of his body wanted to drag him to the living room, where the old instrument stood silent and dusted.

He always had these episodes in which he'd be tempted to play it at the most random hours of the night, but now it overwhelmed him as he was under the alcohol influence. The sensation was similar to being in a fire, with a lake two metres away from you. Or being under water in urgent need of air, with your head a few inches away from the surface. Or being wet, freezing in the cold wind, with warm clothes just a foot away from you.
