Chapter 1

I woke up, early as always, and streched out my arms and long blue tail. The scales shimmered in the dim light. I smilled as I sat up.  I pushed the seaweed blanket off of me and swam  over to my mirror. I looked into it and smiled at my reflection. My wavy, long, frost white hair that normally went down to my waist was floating around my head, making a white halo around me. My purple eyes shone with happiness and my long eyelashes only made them look prettier. My full, red lips were pulled into a smile and I could see all my pearly white teeth. I had to admit, I was pretty. I took my coral comb and ran it through my hair. When I was satisfied with how my hair looked, I set the comb down and swam over to my walk in closet to pick out something to throw over my shell bra. Unlike the other mermaids, I didn't really like to swim around with only a bra on. It just felt wrong. I picked out a black fishnet and put it on. Then, I looked in the mirror to make sure it looked good.  Other mermaids made fun of me for covering up, but I didn't really care. I had no desire to be sluts like they were. Happy, I swam away to met my friends. We always swam around in the morning. It was just something we all loved to do. I was the last person to come to our group. Dustin, Ariabella, Sam, Ciela, and Jesse were all sitting in the park we always met. Ariabella saw me swimming over and yelled at me.

"Ariel! What took ya so long?" She said, gaining the attention of the rest of our group. Dustin rolled his grey eyes when he saw me.

"Sleep in again, El?" Dustin said, smirking. He flicked his head to the side, moving his jet black hair out of his face.

"I'm freaking seventeen. Of course I slept in, Dus."I looked over and saw Jesse smiling at me. My heart skipped a beat. Jesse was so hot. He had long blonde colored hair in a surfer style. His emerald green eyes lit up his pink lips were pulled in a smile. He had a long, very muscled tail that was as green as his eyes. I winked at him and his smile grew. Ciela rolled her eyes. Me and Jesse were always flirting. Her and Sam got annoyed when we did. Ariabella and Dustin didn't really care. Though Dustin didn't care 'cuz I flirted with him too. I am sorry, but I always flirt with my guy friends. It was fun! Especially when they flirted back. I might sound like a slut, but we never meant anything by our flirting. I couldn't flirt with Sam because he and Ciela were dating and that would just be wrong. They made a really cute couple. Both had dark blonde hair and baby blue eyes. Sam had a blue tail and Ciela had a baby pink one.

"Are we gonna go for a swim or are we gonna sit here?" Jesse asked the group, his eyes never leaving me.

"Yeah, I say we go. I love to see the sunrise on the beach. Come on. let's go." i said, swimming away. I heard the others get up and follow me. We swam out of the park and kept walking until we reached the barrier that kept  us in and other animals out. I swam out of the bubble barrier and into the ocean. I looked behind me and saw the rest of our group jump out.

"The usual place?" Ariabella asked, flicking her white tail around as she spoke. Her light pink hair was fanning around her and her dark pink eyes shone.

"I think we should go somewhere diffrent." Dustin said, swimming in front of the group. His black tail matched his black hair perfectly. "Ya know, for fun."

"I have the perfect place. It was this coral reef me and Gibson found a few days ago, before he left on a class trip. I think you guys would like it." I said.

"What are we waiting for?" Jesse asked. "Let's go!" I swam in front of our group and started swimming where me and my older brother had swam yesterday. I was so focused on the destination, I didn't notice Ariabella swim next to me.

"Hey, girly. How's it been?" She asked me. I rolled my eyes.

"Since we hung out yesterday afternoon? Well, it's been going great!" I said as we laughed. We had hung out all afternoon. We would have hung out longer, but we ran into her dad at the park and he said that Ariabella had to come home to watch her four year old little brother. I had not done much the rest of the day. "How's Joey, by the way?"
