CHAPTER ONE:
“Buti ka pa Drake graduate ka na ng Medicine”, I told him with a pout.
I’m completely jealous. Si Drake Bryan Benitez, my handsome bestfriend. Campus heartthrob at Deans Lister ng Athena de Manila University ngayon graduate of Medicine na, Top Notcher pa sa Board Exam.
“Kasi… my IQ is far off better than you Leanne, malapit ka rin namang gu-mraduate ah”, he replied with a smirk.
“Stop teasing me. I’m still a freshman”.
I took Fine Arts kasi it’s been my dream to become an interior designer.
“Bakit ba kasi hindi kagaya ng brain ko ang brain mo? Drake pahiram nga ng brain mo para accelerated na ako tapos bukas graduate na kaagad ako”, sabi ko sa kanya.
Tumawa si Drake ng napakalakas, “Haha… You’re really funny Leanne. Akala ko ba gusto mong i-stalk ang all time crush mong si Tyler Lopez?” he said while tapping my head like a baby.
Oo nga. Nakalimutan ko tuloy si Tyler. Si Tyler James Lopez, his family ranks number 2 in the top 10 wealthiest people in the Philippines while my family ranks at 7. Hindi lang siya mayaman, he’s handsome, smart, tall, perfectly built, every girl’s dream guy.
He’s never dated anyone kahit na almost all of the girls in our school are flirting with him and are the ones who asks him out. He always rejects them. And I’m one of them.
“Drake, can’t you see it’s hopeless. He doesn’t even know that Leanne Jeenne Fernandez exist noh?” I retorted.
“Well, yeah that’s true. Kung di mo lang ako binusted noon, eh di sana happy ending ka ngayon”, he said with a tiny grin on his face.
“You’re my bestfriend Drake. Ang awkward naman isipin na magiging tayo, tapos ang hirap i-imagine na magki-kiss tayo tapos…”.
I stared at him… for a second parang nakita kong namumula si Drake. He seemed kind of embarrassed.
“Wag mo na ngang ituloy, baka ano pang gawin ko sa iyo”, pagka-wika niya ay umalis siya kaagad.
“Ayy, may padabog effect pa ang peg. Anong problema nun?” napakibit balikat nalang ako.
Pumunta akong mag-isa sa cafeteria kasi naman parang nagalit sa akin si Drake sa hindi ko malamang rason. Nagtitilian na naman ang mga babae which means….
“Oh Em Gee! Si Tyler!”
Dali dali akong pumunta sa crowd of girls na nagtitilian. Super siksikan talaga, parang may concert na nagaganap tuwing dumadating si Tyler. It’s been 5 years since I started stalking him. Highschool palang kami patay na patay na ako sa kanya. Kaya nung 4th year highschool during the senior prom, I told him everything…
“I love you Tyler. Please let me be your girlfriend”, sabi ko sa kanya with all the roses pang dala.
Ako pa talaga ang nanligaw sa kanya hah? Well, I can’t take it anymore. The fact na nasa malayo lang ako, always nakamasid sa kanya. That’s why I’ve tried my luck that day.
Pero…
Hindi man lang nya ako tiningnan. Hindi man lang niya napansin ang efforts ko. He just walked pass me without saying anything, like I was invisible.
Pero kahit ganun, I never stopped loving him. Kahit super nabiyak ang puso ko noon I kept on stalking him till now, till college. Kahit lang nasa malayo ako, okay na.
Ano kayang iniisip niya? I asked myself while I was staring at him through the windowpane.
Iba kasi ang course niya kaya iba-iba kami ng classroom building.
“Okay class, that’s it for now. Please give me a sketch of your designs by tomorrow. Just send it thru my email”, wika ni Professor Lopez, ang mother ni Tyler.
Is this fate? Napangiti ako.
“Miss Fernandez”.
“Umm, yes Maam?”
“Principal Lopez wanted to see you in his office”, she said.
“Patay! May ginawa ba ako ngayong araw para ma-principal’s office?”
Napansin yata ni Prof. Lopez ang mukha kong di maipinta sa nerbyos kaya ngumiti siya at sabi, “Don’t worry i’ja, you have done nothing wrong”.
Nasa pintuan na ako ng principal’s office, kumakabog ang puso ko. Hindi ko maipaliwanag kung bakit. First time ko kasing mapunta sa Principal’s Office tapos tatay pa ng ultimate crush ko ang makaka-usap ko. Hayyyy…. Kung minamalas nga naman oh.
I knocked at the door thrice, sabay pasok sa loob.
“Yes, I’m glad you’re here Ms. Fernandez”.
“M-may nagawa po ba ako Principal?” sabi ko sa kanya.
“No no… that’s not it. Well I have a favor to ask you. A very huge favor”, sabi niya with a very serious face.
Nanlaki ang mga mata ko sa aking narinig.
