I'm still wary about giving out my e-mail here so thank goodness for wattpad's new private msging thingy. just give me a message if you want to ask anything or just chat :) love you guys. i'll try to upload sooner Chapter 11 I woke up to a slobbering mass of fur also known a Ruby, who was happily lathering me with a facial of her drool. I tried to remind myself of that article I read about dog saliva healing properties. I shoved her away and stretched, yawning. The soft bed felt so good, I just wanted to get back to sleep. Wait...I fell asleep!? I scrambled out of the bed to the floor and looked around the room squinting. The room was empty except for Ruby and me, the two other beds made. It was darker than I assumed. I stretched a bit more, appreciating the cracking sound of my joints. I was supposed to be waiting for Dinah and Alex to come back but it looked like sleep got the better of me. Damn comfortable bed. I looked out and found the reason why the room was so dark: snow was lightly falling and there was a bit of frost on the windows. Ruby tugged at my pajama, her tail wagging happily. I grinned at the little puppy and leaned down scratching her ears. "Here's hoping you don't get too big," I whispered. She inclined her head and kept tugging. "Alright, alright," I told her. I followed the Siberian Husky out the room, down the hall, and down the stairs. "You're not leading me to some supernatural predator again, are you?" I mumbled. We rounded a corner and entered a room where my nose was assaulted by the smell of bacon and maple syrup. "Hey, it worked!" I heard Dinah exclaim. "Morning, Louis." Dinah and Alex were seated at a table covered in platters of pancakes, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, and other such stuff that made my mouth water. "Told you it would," Alex said proudly. "Here, Ruby. Good girl." He tossed a piece of bacon her way which she happily ate up, while he scratched her ears. "When did you teach her how to wake up happily snoozing people?" I asked grumpily. "I didn't. That's what's so cool about it," Alex told me. "Better eat up, Louis," Dinah said. "We're leaving in a few hours." "We are?" I asked while taking my seat. I filled my plate with everything that was in reach and started chomping down. "Well, we have a busy schedule," Dinah said. I arched an eyebrow at her. She gave me a level look. "I'm gonna go talk to a few...friends. Alex here's gonna go hiking with Maya or Henry or Eric when they get back. You're gonna stick with your uncle." I gulped down some orange juice. "I am?" Dinah narrowed her eyes at me and said, "You're really slow today." I chewed on some bacon and thought about what she said. "Oh," I exclaimed. "I should stick with uncle because he might be working on some interesting case." Alex rolled his eyes. I pretended not to notice. "Where'd you guys go last night? I fell asleep while waiting." "Looking for Maya, Henry and Eric," Dinah said soberly. "And?" I pressed. "What do you think? They weren't around," Dinah scowled. "Oh yeah," I remembered. "Clara mentioned something about that." "You met with Clara?" Alex asked disbelievingly. "Yup. We were here to ask questions after all," I told them. "So what'd you get?" Dinah leaned closer. "She didn't know any more than we did about this," I said honestly. I didn't bother telling them about the other things Clara said. It was her secret to tell. "Figures," Alex snorted. "Mom and Dad probably have some kind of vise on her." I didn't contest him. "So if you didn't find anyone, what took you so long?" I thought I saw Dinah blush. "We got lost." "Alex lives here," I reminded her. "How could you get lost?" "I was gone for a long time," Alex said. "And they renovated, remember?" "Whatever you say," I agreed. I didn't bother pushing for more information. Either they did something private, in which case I wouldn't really want to hear any details or Alex purposely got them lost. Either way, it was their little problem and was for them to solve.
