"Sorry, I forgot about 'mystery girl'. Hey man, when are you going to give up on her? It's been years dude. You need to go fishing, there's plenty of fish in the sea. Look you even have your arm around the most beautiful girl in your school by far and you could probably date her. You'd date Luke right, Em?" Leon looked at me expectantly. Well this isn't at all awkward.
"Leon, Luke is my best friend-"
"-take your relationship to the next level-"
"-he's like a brother to me! It'd be weird and besides you can't tell Luke to fall out of love. You love her, don't you Luke." I looked up at him. He was staring determinately at something in the distance. He gulped.
"Yeah, yes I do." He said hoarsely.
"See Leon. It's kind of harsh to ask that of someone. I am Luke's best friend and he's only told me the bare minimum about this girl but from what he has told me, he really is in love with her!" I finished, and squeezed Luke's waist in a supportive kind of way. By now we had reached my car. I had one of the staff bring Luke's family car up as well and they were parked side by side. Oh yeah, I may have forgot to mention we live next door to each other, that's how we met. I helped them load their luggage into the boot of the big four by four style Volvo and got into my own car. I was just shutting the door when a foot in old, dirty white conversed blocked my way. I looked up to see Luke smiling down at me, but with a sort of odd expression on his face.
"You really are the best friend I could ask for, you know that right?"
"I know that. You want to ride with me?" I looked at him and he nodded. He slipped in silently next to me and put his feet up on the dash board and shoved on his aviator reflective sunglasses. I started up the engine and Publish My Love by Rogue Waves came on the stereo. Luke pumped up the volume and we pulled out of the airport, the wind blowing through our hair.
As I pulled in through the large black gates to my house I switched off the radio and heard soft snoring coming from the passengers seat. Well it wasn't really snoring, more like really deep breathing, the distinctive sound of Luke sleeping. I smiled to myself as I parked up and stopped the engine. I had thought the sudden absence of movement would wake my best friend up but I was wrong. He was still sleeping, his sunglasses lop sided and his lips slightly parted. I knew things about the school's golden boy that no one else did. Like the fact that up until he was ten, he used to dribble in his sleep and once he laughed so hard at my house he wet himself and had to borrow a pair of my panties which he apparently still has in his boxer draw but I'm not sure I believe him. These embarrassing facts don't make me love him any less though and I'd never tell another soul because I want him to trust me. Because I love him, he's like my brother and if I ever lost him I don't know what I'd do. We tell each other everything. Well I've told him everything; he's told me everything except who this mystery girl is. I looked at the time on my white iPhone 3G. Five minutes had passed. I reached out and stroked his hair back off his face.
