Welcome to the next chapter:

The Werewolf Stories

Part 2- Modern Literature

Lemme just break this down into problems.

First of all, every single MC is either the current or future leader of their pack, or they are mated to the current or future leader of the pack.

Why? Let me put aside my opinions that packs are stupid and think about it this way: in today’s society are we not more likely to cheer for the “underdogs”? So, why don’t you write about them? I’m sure being the “God” of your pack is super duper tough, huh? I bet being the weak one that could potentially be eaten this winter would probably be a worse job. Think about it.

I’m tired of reading about the indestructible. I do cheer for the underdog! The one that gets bossed around and picked on and mistreated. Why? Because they end up being the most dynamic and independent (unless they fall into one of those stupid depressions).

And also, why the Hell are we so sensitive about werewolves? When did they stop being bad news? When did they become misunderstood? We, as people (and as a defense mechanism), don’t like being inferior. So why are we making werewolves so much better than people?

If they are like wolves then they are cold blooded killers. They aren’t misunderstood. They can’t control their rage. They will kill people. People are their food. So stop making them these good characters. They are monsters. Cursed monsters.

CURSES ARE NOT FUN! Why do people think it’s fun?

And why can they just change into a werewolf whenever they get pissed off? No. No, no, no, no, no. There is no excuse for that. I’m all for making something your own, but if they can transform whenever they would run the world, simple as that. And don’t argue, because you know it’s true. (That’s how I know vampires aren’t real. Then everyone would be a damn Vampire.)

On another note, why are their mates always rejecting them? Just because they are ugly? Hello! All werewolves are ugly…unless they aren’t. And if they’re not, do you know why? As a predatory mechanism-to draw in their prey. You can’t have hot and harmless. That’s boring (and stupid).

“Oh look, Jenny. Look at the hot boy with the six pack and the great hair. He’s definitely not going to come in our room on a full moon and eat us. Werewolves don’t eat people.” Yes. Yes they do, actually. (Or at least they should. They’re predators for goodness sakes. And as much as I love The Vampire Diaries (and I do) they kind of wore out the “I’m good and only eat animals even though I crave people” thing.)

But, let’s put the ugly theory aside (as hard as it is) and say that they are pretty people. (I shuddered when I wrote that. They can only be pretty if they want to kill you.) Do we really have to have characters that are so shallow? The dude is a jerk. Forget whether or not he’s your mate. If he loves you just because you’re hot then he deserves to be the one that you eat when this winter gets harsh. Just do it!

And what has to piss me off the most is the girls that make these characters. And then they say, “yeah, see how strong and beautiful she is? That’s why I like her. Because she’s strong and pretty. Just like every woman. Woman power, yeah!” What. The. Hell? If she’s so strong and beautiful, why does she need a damn man? SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME! (And again, no. Dammit stop attacking me. This isn’t every girl. Obviously it’s just the ones that DO this. Think about before you attack me. Besides, I’ve seen the chauvinists do it too!)

Oh, and stop making them go rogue. First of all, wolves get kicked out of the pack because of two main reasons: they reach sexual maturity and there is no room for another male or breeding females or they are sick.

They don’t just run away because they’re mad. If they did that they would die. Because THEY HAVE NO ONE TO HUNT WITH! (And if they’re pack animals, obviously they aren’t strong and fast enough to do it on their own).

Also, packs don’t accept rogue wolves. They kill them. And eat them. And that’s just how it is.

So, here’s an overview. The plot about a female getting rejected by her mate and going rogue is completely overused and has no support to make it credible. So stop it.

Instead, brush up on your history.  Make them the cold blooded killers they were dreamed to be.

I’m sure there will be another chapter about this tackling more issues. Unfortunately…I have more reading to do. These are just the issues I’ve come across thus far. (Wish me luck. Please.) And I’ll probably have more to say about these topics. I’ve just had to get out the research I’ve come up with. Comment and let me know some other problems you see and some suggestions you have!

Have a happy day and don’t get too pissed about my werewolf rant! (Werewolf writers are usually a lot more aggressive than their characters :D (Not all of them. Just a whole awful lot of them))
