Chapter 8: Coward

Charlotte's POV

"Why on earth did I agree with this again?!" I screeched furiously. Right now, we were about to go to school. And trust me, from the scene I had earlier, I was beyond cranky.

2 Hours Earlier

"Shut. Up. You. Little. Monster." I barked between slams. I banged the stupid digital clock against my tile floor. It couldn't stop beeping! How do I turn the damn thing off?!? We never had these eletronicy creatures in my orphanage! We had regular clocks!

"Someone! Help!" I called. I scrunched my face, furious. I probably looked like a dying pug. Good thing no one could see my face... Once again, I slammed the digital clock repeatedly. Until an idea popped into my head.

I stood onto my two feet as I brought my hand, with the digital clock in it, up in the air. With a little force, I threw it against the wall. BANG! Even though I used little force, it caused a massive dent in the wall (at least it wasn't a hole). It dropped to the floor with a thud.

Finally there was silence.

The first thing I did was squeal in joy. I fist pumped the air, jumping around here and there. "Oh yeah! Beat that, Jesus!" I chanted happily. But sadly, my happiness came to an end. Again, the dreadful noise began to echo throughout the room.

I marched towards the clock, anger flowing off me in waves. I picked up the clock and glared at it with all my might.

"You little bi-" I was cut off when Daniel barged in, quickly. With a bat. He looked from side to side frantically. Until his eyes landed on me. His eyes held a confused and worried glint but it changed immediately when he moved his gaze towards the clock. A huge smirk made his way up his face while he looked at me, clearly amused.

"What happen?" He asked, faking to be worried. The little idiot was mocking me! I was about to throw the clock at his stupid pretty face but I needed to turn it off first. Then I'll throw it!  Problem solved!

"Turn the little monster off!" I snapped, not looking at is eyes. I was too busy shaking it back and forth, hoping it can make it turn off.

Suddenly, I felt two hands grip my shoulders. I huffed angrily and looked up. Daniel's eyes were staring at me with a tiny bit of amusement but it was mostly gesturing something else. He was telling me to relax. I looked down at myself, I was practically shaking!

I sighed and nodded my head. I soon stopped shaking. But I was still pissed. I handed the clock to Daniel, hoping he had a way to turn it off. With a smug smirk, he took from me. In seconds it stopped.

It. Actually. Stopped.

I gaped at him. Looking at him then back at the clock. How did he do that!? Was he some type of magical person? "H-how?" I stuttered, shocked he actually made it shut up.

If possible, he smirked even wider. He handed the clock back and made his way out of my room. Leaving me dazed. Right when he was about to step out, he looked back at me and answered, "There's a button."

I walked around my room murmuring curse words. Along the way I passed a mirror. At least my outfit wasn't too revealing. I was wearing a tank top but it was covered by a varsity jacket. The jacket was blue with white sleeves. Also it had red letters which were E and H. Macy said the school sent it to me so I guess that were the initials for them.

But what I liked most about it was it had a hood which was huge plus! It covered my eyes and half of my nose perfectly! So now I don't have to look like a complete creeper since I won't be needing to wear my dark cloak.
