The Rogue Of South Island

We run out of West Manor station and I look at the notes in my pocket and show them to Maria, she gets notes from her bra? We put it together and nod 

"Over $300 South Dollars" I laugh, Maria gives me a cheeky nod and puts her hand in mine. We walk slowly through West Manor Market District. 

I keep my eyes out for little rogues, I can tell them apart from normal kids easily. The rogues walk on tiptoes, trying to keep stealth. The normal kids thud. 

I feel a hand in my pocket, I grab it on instinct and see a ragged dude. Maria giggles excitedly, the man roars with laugher. 

"Maria!" He laughs

"Ev..."

"Evan?" I ask confused; didn't he die?

"Michael is that you now. Rich man clothes, I swear you said you'd never change!" Evan laughs, I nod chuckling. 

"It's that chick, Lucy. She made me wear rich man clothes" I say putting a hand through my hair, Evan smiles warmly. 

"So your off?" I ask looking at his colour, a slight glow. Evan nods softly. 

"Yeah, I haven't touched since I was moved to West Manor innit. The wi..."

"Gheeez, my mans got a wife! Who is it!?!" I laugh, Evan shrugs. 

"You don't know her, Maria d'you remember Cassy?" Evan asks, Maria rolls her eyes. 

"Yeah, I remember her" Maria mutters with anger in her voice, Evan shrugs. 

"Anyways, if your in the area, stay round some time huh?" Evan says putting his arm out, I nod and pat his back laughing hugging him tight. Evan goes to Maria and she kisses his cheeks. 

"Laters Evan" We say together, Evan slowly walks away pickpocketing someone slyly. 

I know the tricks. 

"D'you want to see who can make the most money?" I ask, Maria nods excitedly. 

"No prostituting" Maria says patting my nose, I kiss her chuckling. 

"I'll try not to; first to 300 comes back to this spot yeah?" I smile, she nods. We kiss again and go our seperate ways. She disappears into the market slowly, the only thing distinguishing her from the rest is her long peach dress slowly flying in the wind. I wait in an alley way and pounce on a rich guy. 

I take keys, $100 south pounds and a pack of chewing gum. I run out of the alley and go to another one and repeat it until I have $300. 

I run back to the spot to see Maria waiting laughing, I stare amazed. 

"It took 30 minutes. You was 1 hour" Maria chuckles 

"What is your..." 

"Evan told me the female way, it's worked a charm" Maria says, I smile and put my hand in hers and we walk slowly to the sunset on West Manor Pier. We sit on the railings swinging our feet hand in hand. 

"So, why did you become a rogue?" I ask Maria, Maria sighs and looks me in the eye for a split second then jumps down to the edge of the river Mia. 

Our past kings loved their daughters like hell, they named everything after the princesses. It's hard to take a town seriously when it's called Rosé. One of King Daniel's names. 

I jump down too and follow her slowly, she stops at a cave like tunnel and climbs in, I join her and we sit looking at each other as the river water bashes against the rocks. 

"Where is he!" I hear a familiar set of voices yell, shit. 

The police! 

I expect Maria to discard me, but she just gives me that cheeky smile and gets to her knees and crawls deeper in the cave. So I go too. 

The tunnels lighting gets worst so I can only make out the outlines of Maria, she holds onto my belt while pushing forward in the tunnel. 

"Near the end Michael" Maria whispers, I smile into the dark abyss. 

Light soon appears, the feeling of freedom comes along with it. Maria climbs out of the tunnel and spreads her arms apart and laughs. I get out of the tunnel too and gasp at the perfect scenery. 

My eyes paint a mental picture for my mum, this must be Tachbrook. The free part of South Island, the part we've always been dreaming to go. 

Trees growing as freely and large as they like, grass growing long and stringy but freely, birds flying around without a care in the world. Why wasn't all of South Island like this?
