Alison Elizabeth Zandi.
Everyone just called me Ali. I had an older brother named Paul Elijah Zandi. Everyone just called him Pez. I was 15 and Pez was 17. Our school considered us “emo”.
I was usually in a good mood, but right now, I had tears slowly crawling down my face. My eyes were resting on a tiny plus sign.
I was pregnant.
And with Benjamin Jarvis child.
Benjamin Robert Jarvis was considered a bad boy. He was a total man whore. Pez, who’s friend with Ben, told me he had knocked up a girl last year. Pez said he only dates or is friends with emo girls.
I don’t know why I had had sex with Ben. He was good looking and extremely charismatic. The gentle way he had kissed me. The sweet words he had whispered to me. The comforting way he had held me.
But now what was I going to do? I didn’t know much about Ben’s home life, but I knew he didn’t have a lot of money. He wouldn’t be able to afford to help me with a baby. He wouldn’t want to help me with a baby.
I shakily sighed and ran a hand through my hair. I opened the bathroom door and walked out…and right into Pez.
“Ali? What’s wrong?” he asked in alarm. He hugged me tightly. I sniffed. I might as well tell him now. “Promise you won’t get mad?” I whispered. He nodded and held out his pinky. I wrapped my pinky around it and took a deep breath.
I burst into tears again.
Pez was silent as he held me. “Who?” he finally asked quietly. “You can’t get mad at him Pez! I chose to have sex with him!” I cried. “Who?” he demanded.
His eyes widened and hate exploded in them. “Oh my god I’ll kill Ben!” he screamed and turned towards the front door. I grabbed his arm. “Pez no! It was my choice!” I cried desperately.
He spun around angrily. “You don’t understand Ali! He’ll leave you! He will hurt you!” I sighed and wiped my eyes. “Pez, let me talk to him. Please. I need to talk to him.” He glared. “Fine Ali. But you’re telling me everything he says to you. Got it?” I nodded and hugged him before going up to my room.
I put on my iPod and slowly fell asleep. In the morning, I got in the car with Pez and we drove to school in silence.
“Tell me everything Ali,” he reminded me as I got out of the car. I bit my lip and nodded at him before going into the school.
I stalled as long as I could before finally deciding to go find Ben. I spotted him walking through the halls with his best friend Hanley. Hanley waved to Ben before walking off with his girlfriend.
Ben shoved his hands in the pockets of his skinny jeans and began to walk with his head down. You couldn’t even call it a walk. It was more of a glide. It kind of reminded me of a vampire.
“Um…Ben?” I said quietly. He looked up at me and grinned. His teeth had gaps in them that made Ben so adorable. He had piercing baby blue eyes. He had pale skin and light brown hair that was beginning to grow out to frame his face like it used to.
“Hey Ali. What’s up?” I loved his voice. It was pretty deep. I gulped and felt my eyes watering as I forced myself to speak the words that would change our lives forever.
“Ben…I’m pregnant. With your child.”
