Short Story, The Evalions

The Evalions
Short Story by Austin / Velar89

Drip. Drip. Drip. Small drops of water hit the face of a 15 year old teenager in a cell. "You really did a number on him, Jack. He's out cold." Two men appeared at the cell, one dressed in a full white suit, the other in ragged clothes. "If he was working for them you would have thanked me," Jack replied. Tommy laughed and said, "You think they would let this child join?" Jack just grunted as a reply and watched as Tommy opened the gate to the cell. Jack took two steps forward into the cell when Tommy put his arm in front of him, "I'll handle it this time," Tommy announced.
"Remember, he's going on the mission whether you OR he wishes it." Tommy sighed, "I know."

Tommy walked over and shook the kid awake. The kid bolted up and backed against the wall fists ready to fight. "Who are you people!?" Tommy smiled gently and said, "The Evalions." The kid stood there dumbstruck for a moment. "Why did you kidnap me?" Jack stepped forward, "Figured you were working for THEM." The kid laughed, "Yeah right, like I ever could." Jack let out a long laugh and said, "Get ready to kid, because before you can be free from here you're going to." The kid frowned. "Follow us," said Tommy as he moved his hand in a motion towards the cell door. "After you."

After they got out of the cell, the kid started paying attention to what they looked like. One was dressed in a brown torn leather shirt and torn dirty white pants with long rugged dirty brown hair. Muscles bulging, he looked like the average Evalion soldier. The other seemed high class, white suit and tie, black hair that was conditioned and proper in cut. Not to tall, but not too short. "You look like you work for them, you know," he said to Tommy.

Tommy laughed and said, "That is the point, you're going to be working with me." Before the kid could say anything more, he noticed there was no way out of this area. They were walking toward a wall. "Is there a way out of here? Where are we going?" Jack laughed this time and said, "Through that wall." As he said it, the wall turned sideways slowly and opened a passage for them to leave. "You certainly don't take any chances, do you?" The kid said, both Tommy and Jack laughed this time, "Can't trust them at all, so... yea," said Tommy.

They walked through a passage into a guarded tunnel, through several steel doors with passwords, until they finally reached the main headquarters after about 20 minutes of walking. They walked through halls until they reached a door. "Don't say anything unless spoken to kid," said Tommy. "Yea they'll skin ya alive. Hahahaha," said Jack. Tommy opened the door and stepped through, followed by the kid and then Jack.

It was a large board room; several high-up-looking people were inside. A Commander looking-guy at the back of the room, wearing a white army looking uniform, glanced upward as they entered. "Good, you're here. We've just decided on everything." Tommy and Jack bowed. "What are our orders?" Tommy said, the commander at the back of the board room stood up. "There is a sub leaving tomorrow, at noon. It carries weapons, food, clothing, and many other supplies they need, as well as 500 men and 10 extremely high ranking commanders. Tommy and Prisoner # 42043 are to infiltrate it and blow it up."

"Excuse me, YOU kidnapped ME! How can I do any of this stuff?" Jack clamped the kid's mouth shut. "Sorry, he doesn't know how it works around here, commander." "Indeed. See that it does not happen again, as I was just getting to that. The child here will go with Tommy, who has already obtained a high status with the enemy, and pose as a new recruit. We have information that the sub will be getting 250 new recruits on the same day; he will blend right in. The plans are set: he will be escorted by Sam to the destination. Tommy, you already know what is needed to be done." Tommy nodded. "Get some sleep; you wake at six hundred hours. Dismissed." Jack and Tommy bowed again. Jack grabbed the kid's shirt and pulled him out with Tommy. "Didn't I tell you NOT to speak?" Tommy exclaimed. The kid shrugged. Tommy shook his head, "Take him to his sleeping quarters, and get some sleep, kid. Long day tomorrow."

Bang. Bang. Bang. The kid's room door flew open as he bolted upright in his bed. "What?" he said while rubbing his eyes. He opened them and was hit in the face with some clothes. "Put those on and meet me down the hall." The door closed. "Jeez, these people sure know how to show hospitality." He grunted and proceeded to change into the clothes.
