Hello, like I had considered, I made this one Josh's POV. This is mostly going to be about him so it MIGHT be just a LITTLE boring, but it's necessary info and I'll try to make it better fast. You wanna know what the key to that is, though?

Chapter Four- Josh's POV

I grumbled and grabbed her arm. When I started running I heard her gasp at how fast I run. Yeah, well, I've had practice.

See, running from the law was all too familiar. The first time I was eight and had stolen some cookies for the fam, when some lame clerk saw me and called the cops. I ran and was caught, but as a kid, I just pulled into my savings (Two fifty) and paid for it. Mom was pissed.

The second time was a while later, when I had recently joined the HHS (Humans for Higher Society) club that my father had been in before he had died on a trip to the Fountains. He was so sure that he had gotten the right fountain, too.... Anyways, I had stolen a wetsuit for the newest member of the HHS, and again, somebody caught me. I can never tell when I'm being watched, people tell me I'm not the most observant person ever.... I got back to headquarters, and the wetsuit was the wrong size, and they told me to return it. When I said that I didn't pay for it and explained how I was so dirt poor dirt is higher class, they smiled sadly and gave a gold card. I cherish the thing now, still not fully understanding how you could have so much money you can just HAND someone basically your bank account and not be worried, but that's exactly what they did.

That was the last time, until now, but still, two times running from cops is kind of a lot. And that doesn't even cover running from the people who hate HHS...either way, I'm a pretty fast runner.

"You're...pretty...good at this," Emma said through pants. She was keeping up well, which was saying a lot, since I'd become even faster after I'd drank from the Fountains.

"Not too bad yourself," I said, even though I wasn't really winded at all.

"Thanks," she said, "but we're so far ahead, can't we just walk now?"

"Not chickening out are you, Hilson?" I teased, actually ready to walk also.

I felt, rather than heard, her mind's response. 'Great, he knows my last name, too.'
"NO! But, were causing a disturbance," she said aloud.

We weren't, not really, or maybe I just didn't notice too well, paying more attention to how her copper blonde hair waved even more in the wind. I really loved long hair...

"Ha-ha, I think technically I win, since you stopped first," she said, laughing.

"So, I'm sure I won the banter round!" I said.

"Did you seriously just say 'banter round'? Geek."

I grinded my teeth, sometimes this girl can be annoying, other times, though... I stared into nowhere and from the corner of my eye saw her do the same. I sighed, really loving comfortable silences.

I thought about how I was getting all this new, scary information from HHS. HHS originally started to make sure humans stayed the higher species, most of its 62 members thought it was a joke, who could challenge humans?

We thought maybe they were talking about vampires or aliens or something, but they weren't, they were talking about animals. Ordinary animals who mutated into UNordianary things. Recent reports said there might be a swimming lion in Africa, not too bad, but a mutation still, and there was weird activity in Scotland. AND there was more evidence that the Loch Ness Monster is a hyper mutated whale. Impossible, but, sadly, possible.

So younger and younger HHS has been sending people up to the Fountains. That's how me, merely 17, ended up the only survivor to a trip to the Fountains. Of the ten people to go, I can back. People said I had an angel, and maybe it's true because we fell off a fifty foot cliff. Everybody went splat, but I didn't have a single broken bone. Scratches and bruises, sure, but that was mainly from hitting rocks on the way down. I fell unconscious, but just HAPPENED to land on the radio talk button just right so it sent the impact noise to the HQ and they sent rescuers. That can't just be luck, can it?

I felt Emma fighting some sort of dilemma, so I put an end to a misery, "What's up Em?"

She shot me a look, but grudgingly responded, "Nothing, it's just that, I have to go to work at Starbucks."

I smiled hatching a plot, "Then go to work."

"Just like that?" she asked, her brain whizzing. I could see her trying to guess what I was thinking.

"Yep."

"So you'll be there? I start at seven." She grinned at me and walked away.

Dang it, how did she do that? I thought she wouldn't guess.

This girl was unbelievable.
