River of Memories

 And this is dedicated to bibliophilefreak because that's where the entire idea came from :D:D THANKS SO MUCH!

I'm trying to make this eerie and cool-sounding and very Alice in Wonderland-esque. I love those kinda things :D But I think I failed. Tell how I can improve!

RIver of Memories

A stumble through the forest

made of shining metal parts

Trees of iron, silver and gold,

but all poisonous to the touch.

It leads you to a river,

narrow and winding,

filled with a silvery substance.

unearthly figures floating

along the swift current.

But reflective like a mirror,

you see yourself age,

then the hands of time go back to your youth,

the picture in the water knows both time and truth.

You see your life played out

and nostalgia overwhelms you.

The good memories are bright

like sunlight hitting water

but the numerous bad times are shadows

looming over the river 

like a predator in flight.

The best part of your life,

passes before your very eyes.

You long to go back to it,

and reach out a brittle hand.

The river holds memories

of the entire world,

the only ones shown

are of those who face it.

Your limbs had shook

at the sight of your life's peak

and you weren't the first to fall

and neither the last one.
