Chapter 63

Biglang bumagal ang heartbeat ni Elmo. Like his world is slowly crushing. The wide smile disappears, his brows creased. Nakatingin sya sa magkahawak na kamay ng dalawa. And it just hurts, just the simple Julie is with another guy hurts him. Ano pa kaya ngayon, that he expected and believed that she would break-up with him. That this supposed time and place would be theirs. He should be the one holding her hands right now.

Huminga ng malalim si Elmo saka tumingin sa mukha ng dalaga. She is all smile, sobrang ganda. That he just wanna stare at her angelic face. But he can’t let this pass, he’ll convince her na sya ang karapat dapat for her. Tumayo na sya ng upuan, and he’s ready to fight for her…again. Saka tumingin din sa gawi nya si Julie. Nahalata yata ang gagawin nya, she shook her head. Just like saying, ‘no, don’t do it’.

But he cannot, not do it. Patuloy pa rin syang naglakad to their direction. Nakita nyang tinapik at binulungan ni Julie si Alden. Alden nods, then nagyakap sila, warm and big hug. Napalingon si Elmo sa ibang direksyon, as if what he feel would also change. Pagbalik ng tingin nya dito, sumimpleng tingin sa kanya si Julie. He followed her. She led him outside, sa walang taong lugar. They we’re there for awhile. Tahimik lang sila, walang umiimik, nagpapakiramdaman. Pagtingin ni Elmo sa dalaga, she was already looking at him.

“Kasabay mo syang pumunta dito?” mahinang tanong ng gwapong boses ni Elmo. Julie nod “You’re still with him?” she nods again. Huminga ng malalim si Elmo “Kelan mo---------“

“I won’t break up with him” singit ni Julie.

Mabilis kumunot ang noo ni Elmo “Huh?!! Pero-------“

“I made up my mind Moe, what-----“

“But you-----“

“Moe” malakas na sabi ni Julie, so Elmo would listen. She heaved a sigh. “Hindi na ko makikipagbreak sa kanya.  And that’s final”

Hindi nmn makapaniwala si Elmo dito. “So what about us? I thought you made up your mind na makikipaghiwalay ka na sa kanya?“

“There’s no us Moe. And now I had changed my mind. Alden doesn’t deserve all of these, he’s a really a good guy. “

Umiiling si Elmo sa lahat ng sinabi ni Julie “Come on Juls..“ lalong napapaos ang paos nang boses ng binata. Lalo syang lumapit kay Julie “What about last night?”

“It was another one night stand. Na hindi na dapat uli paulit pa” She is hurting to see Elmo’s hurting. Alam nyang nasasaktan din ‘to. But she made up her mind. “Alden’s a good boyfriend. He’s everyone’s ideal man. He has this good heart na lahat kaya nyang tanggapin------“

“What about your heart? What about mine?”

“You already break my heart once” mahinang sagot ni Julie. Alam nilang parehas yun, the cheating. “And he’ll never do that to me. So I won’t to that to him either”

“Juls, I didn’t-----“

“Nakapagdesisyon na ko Elmo. I’ll be with Alden, and I’m with him right now” mahinang sagot nya dito. “And I’m really sorry Elmo” mahinang sabi nya dito, saka tumalikod at bumalik ng party si Julie. Kasabay din nito ang pagtulo ng luha nya.

Elmo’s left there…alone. Hindi nya na nagawang habulin si Julie. Napakabigat ng pakiramdam nya that he can’t even move his own feet. It just really hurts him, he broke her heart once. But Julie broke Elmo’s heart into pieces for so many times. Maraming beses na, minsan she doesn’t even know it. And now she’s breaking it again. Pinipigil nyang tumulo ang luha nya. But it’s no use, dahil naramdaman na lang nyang tumulo na ‘to. He just wiped it, but after wiping it may sumunod nnmn. Saka nya malaman na hindi na nya kayang pigilin ang sakit. For the nth time heartbroken nnmn sya. And it’s still the same girl. It’s still Julie.
