CHAPTER 1
"I'll see you inside." Emi, my best friend said. "Sure." I said. Emi dropped me in front of the fancy restaurant which has a name that I couldn't even pronounce right, while she's off to park her car. She said that she didn't trust the valet with her expensive new BMW that her dad just bought her. Huh... Today was my 17th birthday, so Emi wanted to celebrate it in a stupid fancy restaurant. She's said that it's kind of boring for us to celebrate our birthdays with all the routines we always do during our birthdays, which is camping in the woods and sing our songs. What?! It IS fun not boring. She had told me that Dee - short for Debora Lee - my other best friend will be inside waiting for us. So I went inside the restaurant. I was greeted by a man in his thirties. He was wearing a penguin suit that really didn't suit him. I can tell that he was not comfortable wearing it, since he was always fidgeting with his collar. "Good evening miss. How are you today?" he asked politely. A fake smile plastered on his face. "I'm fine, thank you." "Have you made a reservation?" "Uh, yes it's under Walker." "Ahh... yes... yes... he's been waiting for you." he gestures me with his hands to follow him. He? I know that Dee dresses like a guy and look almost like a guy with her short hair, but no one has ever mistaken her as a boy with her cute pixie face. Huh.... Maybe he's older than I think he is. He leads me to a table which is actually at the farthest corner. It was a full house. Is the food really that good here? I almost bumped into a waiter bringing a tray full of drinks. Phew.... "Here you go miss," he said as we reached the table. "The waiter will be serving you in a few minutes." He smiled and left me here wondering who the hell is the guy sitting at my table. Apparently he didn't notice that I was standing here looking at him more like glaring at him. He had his hood on so that I couldn't really see his face. His hood was covering half his face. He had his iPod on no wonder he didn't hear me coming. He couldn't be Dee - I mean he's too big to be Dee who is actually petite. I sat on the seat across him. He didn't hear the chair screeched. I rolled my eyes at him. I was trying to figure out whether or not to throw the water that was sitting on the table at him. I sighed and lay back on my chair. Who the hell does he think he is? Just then the waiter came. "Good evening. Here is your menus." He said handing me the menu. He just put the other one in front of the guy. The guy just stays still, not noticing that the waiter had come. So me being so annoyed with him right now, grabbed his earpiece which are obviously still in his ears. That startled him. "Hey, what the hell was that for?" he said jerking up and removing his hood. I can see his face now. Wait, isn't he Chase or Jace....or whatever. He is the school's quarter back - the team captain of course - meaning, he is worshipped by the entire student body, well except for me that is. Oh and he is also the school's biggest jerk. Isn't this just wonderful meeting him here like this? NOT! "What the hell are you doing here?" he half yelled getting everyone's attention. I blushed as all eyes were on us now. The poor waiter was looking at us confused. "I should be the one asking you that?" I said trying to sound like I'm not affected by his yelling. His right eyebrow rose. He then took his phone from his jacket pocket and started punching numbers with too much force. "You can just leave us first." I said to waiter giving him sly smile. He just nodded in relieved and went off. I heard Chase/Jace cursing under his breath. I rolled my eyes at him. Then I remembered. Where the hell are Emi and Dee. Ohohoho... this has Emi written all over. Curse her for doing this to me. "What the hell Zack." He yelled on the phone. I rubbed the back of my neck. I sighed in frustration. I was sick and tired of being set up by Emi. "I thought you said some hot girl not..." he stared at me, a disgusted look on his face. I pushed my hair back, running my fingers through my hair and looked around. People were still staring at us. I stood up and walked away. I put my hand on my jean pockets. "Sorry." I said to the waiter as I passed him. He smiled and opened the door for me. "Thanks." I smiled. I sighed. I was standing in front of the restaurant all alone on my birthday. What a crappy birthday, I thought. My stomach growled.
