Say yes  say yes  say yes!

Are you crazy? He's just messing around with you.  You'll end up getting hurt!

He might be messing around, but you really like him.

Her decision shouldn't be based on 'like'. Haven't you seen all those movies where the guy doesn't even like the girl? It's obviously just another bet he wants to win.

In all those movies, the girl finds out and they eventually end up together! So it's not like the world is gonna collapse.

Hmph. Stupid hearts think they know it all!

Pfft. Idiotic brains think logic overrules emotions!

I'm sure someday my heart and brain were going to be crowned the best debate contestants in Jersey. They both had so much conviction that they put my school's national debate team to shame.
Unfortunately, their debating prowess did nothing to solve my problem. In fact, it only complicated the situation.

Those chocolate eyes wouldn't lie, would they?
I stared into their depths, trying to find an answer to all my doubts.

"Yes."

The word had rolled off my tongue even before I knew what I was saying.

The smirk was back on his face, all traces of nervousness now gone. He moved closer to me and instead of taking a step back, I found myself rooted to the spot.

"Knew you'd fall for my charm. I'm simply irresistible."

For some God forsaken reason, I couldn't come up with a sharp reply, no matter how hard I tried. My mind had gone blank, lost all thinking ability and control. I'm not sure if it was the shock of what I'd just said or the proximity of his hypnotising and unbelievably handsome face that made me speechless, but whatever it was, it couldn't be a good sign.

"I...should g-go. Lara's waiting." I stuttered and tried to get past.

Easier said than done because I was trying desperately to move without actually touching him. I was afraid even the slightest brush of our skins would cause those scary sparks, and I couldn't let myself feel such things. Not with him.
Somehow, courtesy of my huge romantic book collection, I knew where the sparks, butterflies and sweet gestures would lead.

They would lead to me falling for him.

But Aaron on the other hand, had no intentions of letting me leave that kitchen. I had almost succeeded in taking half a step away from him and I was just starting to think I might get away, when he moved a little to the right, blocking my path completely. I wasted no time and tried to back away, but of course there had to be the fridge behind me.

I was cornered.

"I make you nervous, don't I?" Aaron asked in a whisper.

"What? No! Pfft....hell no..."

"There's no point denying it, sweetheart."
I could feel his minty breathe getting closer with every word.

"I'm not your sweetheart." I mumbled, but instead of sounding angry and intimidating, my voice came out slightly breathless.
Talk about embarrassing.
